Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Behavioral Health RN for a night shift in PA, requiring a PA or Compact RN license, BLS and CCM certifications, and prior psychiatric care experience.

This 13-week travel assignment features a 1:6 patient ratio, weekend/holiday rotations, and comprehensive benefits including housing allowance, travel and licensure reimbursements, and non-taxed per diem.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (PA or Compact) in hand at time of application.
• Current BLS and CCM certifications required.
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required.
• Prior charge nurse experience preferred.
• Experience caring for patients with anxiety, bipolar, depressive, psychotic, and personality disorders.
• Experience with crisis intervention, de-escalation, and managing assaultive behavior.
• Knowledge of seclusion protocols and physical hold procedures.
• Familiarity with psychiatric medication administration including antianxiety, antidepressant, antipsychotic, and mood stabilizer medications.
• One supervisory reference from within the past year required for consideration.

Responsibilities

• Behavioral Health unit setting.
• Patient ratio of 1:6.
• Night shift schedule (3x12-hour shifts, 19:00-7:00).
• 13-week assignment length.
• Required to work every other weekend and every other holiday.
• Provide inpatient behavioral health care including crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
• Care for patients with substance use disorders, suicidal behavior, and trauma-related disorders.
• Complete PA fingerprinting and ChildLine registration within 48 hours of signing contract.
• Fingerprinting must be completed within PA, with very limited exceptions in other states.
• Previous permanent or per diem employment at this health system must be disclosed, and a minimum 18-month separation is required before returning as a traveler.
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
