American Traveler is hiring a Psychiatric RN for a 13-week acute care assignment in Illinois. An active IL RN license and at least 2 years of RN experience are required, along with BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications.

The role involves working in a Level 2 Trauma facility's Psychiatric Unit with 16-bed APS and 10-bed BMS units, 5–7 day patient stays, and day shift 12-hour rotations. Epic EMR and a multidisciplinary team support daily care.

Qualifications

• BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications required.
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required.
• BSN not required.

Responsibilities

• Work in an Acute Care Level 2 Trauma facility's Psychiatric Unit.
• Two adult units: 16-bed APS and 10-bed BMS units.
• Average patient stay 5–7 days.
• Day shift, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week.
• Use Epic EMR in daily workflow.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, psychiatric nurses, and BH technicians.
• Facilitate therapeutic groups on grief, anxiety, coping skills, and recovery.
• Participate in discharge planning and post-hospital resources.

Responsibilities

• Work in an Acute Care Level 2 Trauma facility's Psychiatric Unit
• Two adult units: a 16-bed secure Adult Psychiatric Services (APS) unit for chronic mental illness stabilization and a 10-bed Behavioral Medicine Services (BMS) unit for depression, anxiety, and grief-related care
• Average patient length of stay is 5 to 7 days
• Day shift schedule with 12-hour shifts
• 36 guaranteed hours per week
• Uses Epic EMR
• Work alongside a multidisciplinary team including psychiatrists, therapists, psychiatric nurses, and behavioral health technicians
• Facilitate and support therapeutic groups covering topics such as grief, anxiety, coping skills, and substance abuse recovery
• Participate in discharge planning and coordination of post-hospital resources for patients
• Units feature modern amenities including private/semi-private rooms, activity rooms, comfort rooms, and outdoor recreation space
• Facility completed in 2015 with a strong focus on patient and staff safety
