Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an RN ECMO Specialist requiring NE or compact RN license, Cardiohelp experience, and 2+ years of ECMO experience for a pediatric hospital setting.

Day shift, 4x12 hour shifts from 7:00 to 19:00; 48 hrs/wk. 13-week assignment with strong compensation and travel benefits. Start date Oct 12, 2026, and lodging/meal stipends may be included.

  • BLS and PALS certifications required.
  • Epic charting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and manage ECMO support for pediatric patients on VA or VV ECMO.
  • Float to NICU, PICU, and CVPICU as needed and cover ICU duties.
  • Serve as pump specialist and assist with bedside nursing care.
  • Titrate cardiac/vasoactive drugs and monitor patients post cardiac procedures.

Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN ECMO Specialist requiring NE or compact RN license, Cardiohelp experience, and 2+ years of ECMO experience for a pediatric hospital setting.

Details
  • ECMO Specialist unit within a pediatric hospital
  • Day shift, 4x12 hour shifts from 7:00 to 19:00
  • Float to NICU, PICU, and CVPICU as needed
  • Serves as pump specialist for pediatric patients on VA or VV ECMO for cardiac or non-cardiac reasons
  • When no ECMO patients are present, works as bedside ICU nurse for cardiac, non-cardiac, or NICU patients based on unit needs
Requirements
  • Active NE or compact RN license required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience required
  • Cardiohelp experience required
  • Required certifications: BLS, PALS
  • Epic charting experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Trauma Level I and II experience preferred
  • Previous charge experience preferred
  • Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, central line and PICC line care, blood product administration, and starting/maintaining IVs
  • Skilled in ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and suctioning
  • Skilled in titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, continuous IV sedation, and procedural sedation monitoring
  • Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and management of multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
  • Experience managing patients post cardiac surgery and pre/post cardiac catheterization or intervention
Additional Information
  • Manages both VA and VV ECMO patients for cardiac and non-cardiac cases
  • Provides bedside ICU care when not actively managing ECMO patients
  • Must reside outside a 100 mile radius from the facility, as locals are not accepted
  • Former permanent employees of the facility are not eligible for this travel assignment
  • First time travelers are welcome to apply
