Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced PICU Registered Nurse for a night shift assignment in New Jersey. The ideal candidate holds an active NJ State or Compact RN license and has a minimum of 2 years in PICU, with BLS and PALS on file.

The role involves working in a 4-bed PICU with 8 convertible beds, 3x12 hour nights, and potential float duties to NICU and L&D/PP, with a local-candidate option within 75 miles at local rate.

Qualifications

• Active NJ State or Compact RN license in hand
• Current BLS and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
• Must pass a Basic Arrhythmia Exam with a minimum score of 80%, no retakes permitted
• Proficiency in systematic EKG rhythm interpretation, heart rate calculations, and identification of rhythms and blocks
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Proof of completed COVID-19 vaccination series and booster required
• Current Nursys verification required for consideration
• One supervisory/manager reference dated within one year of assignment start required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Work in a 4-bed PICU with 8 additional convertible beds that can be monitored as PICU or pediatric beds
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 19:00-7:30
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2 in PICU and 1:3-4 in pediatrics
• Total care required as no PCAs are assigned to the unit
• Care provided to COVID-19 positive patients
• Uses CPAP, Vapotherm, and high flow oxygen equipment
• Required to float to NICU with training provided, and to L&D/PP as helping hands only
• May also be required to float to the Ridgewood Observation Unit
• Every third weekend required
• Self-scheduling available with manager final approval, block scheduling allowed with commitment to assigned weekends
• Provide total patient care to pediatric ICU patients including those with COVID-19
• Local candidates within 75 miles are accepted at the local rate
• Prior permanent employees of the facility are not eligible for this travel assignment
• Candidates who worked in New Jersey within the past 7 years must provide verified employer name, address, and phone number for each NJ employer
• Required lab work must begin within two business days of offer acceptance
