Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Pediatric ICU role in Wisconsin, requiring WI or compact RN licensure and two years of recent acute PICU experience. Strong telemetry and ventilator management skills are essential, with travel nursing experience preferred.

Position involves 12-hour shifts (night or day/evening), every other weekend and holiday rotation, and mandatory Epic charting. Magnet-designated Level One PICU with Level IV NICU awaits.

Qualifications

• Active WI RN license or compact license from permanent address state.
• BLS certification through American Heart Association required; PALS certification required.
• NRP certification preferred; Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
• Minimum two years of acute care experience within the last three years in the PICU.
• Solid PICU experience with some CVICU/cardiac care or related areas.
• Telemetry experience with passing rhythm identification exam required.
• Prior travel nursing experience.
• Teaching hospital and Level I trauma center experience preferred.
• Ventilator management, airway care, ABG interpretation, chest tube management, suctioning.
• Arterial line, central line and PICC line management experience.
• Vasopressors, antiarrhythmics, and sedation administration experience preferred.
• EVD, ICP monitoring, hypothermia protocol, post-neurosurgery care preferred.
• Congenital heart disease/repair and post cardiac care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Care for critically ill pediatric patients in a 21-bed PICU within a renowned pediatric center.
• Provide care for patients with head injuries, neurological disorders, pulmonary/cardiac conditions, and multi-system issues.
• Work 12-hour shifts; night and day/evening options with 36 hours per week.
• Every other weekend and holiday rotation; travel substitutions as staffing requires.
• Complete Epic charting and function within a multidisciplinary team.
• Participate in family-centered care for pediatric patients and families.
• Work at Magnet-designated Level One Pediatric Trauma Center with Level IV NICU.
• Must reside at least 50 miles away; local candidates not accepted.
• Telemetry exam required with passing criteria; renewal course after retries.
• Parking arrangements via UW Transportation or alternatives.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 21-bed PICU within a nationally recognized pediatric medical and surgical center
• Care for critically ill or injured pediatric patients with medical and surgical conditions including acute head injuries, critical neurological disorders, pulmonary disease, cardiac anomalies, organ transplantation, multi-system organ failure, and ECMO
• Shift options include Night (7:00pm-7:30am) and Day/Evening (0700-1930), 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend required with holiday rotation
• Floating required across units and locations as staffing needs dictate, with travelers prioritized for reassignment
• Epic charting system experience required
• Join a multidisciplinary team providing family-centered critical care to pediatric patients and their families
• Facility is a Magnet-designated, Level One Pediatric Trauma Center and home to a Level IV NICU
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
• Telemetry exam required prior to start with strict passing criteria for both adult and pediatric rhythm identification
• Up to three attempts allowed to pass the telemetry exam, with a cardiac interpretation review course required after a second failed attempt
• Parking permit required through UW Transportation if parking onsite, with alternative transportation options available
