Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU assignment. This 32-bed unit handles post-op cardiac cases, transplants, and complex anatomy with 1:2 nurse-patient ratios.

The role requires 2 years of CVPICU experience and active NE/Compact RN licensure, with ICU and respiratory care duties including ventilators and hemodynamic monitoring. Open to first-time travelers; travel housing and licensure reimbursement are provided.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (NE or Compact) currently in hand.
• Certifications ACLS, BLS, PALS.
• CCRN certification preferred.
• 2 years CVPICU experience required.
• Cardiac ICU and pediatric ICU experience required.
• Ventilator management, ETCO2 monitoring, BiPAP/CPAP, ABG interpretation, airway management.
• IV therapy: arterial line, central/PICC line care, blood product administration.
• Administer antiarrhythmics, sedation, IV vasopressors, pediatric dosage calculations.
• Hemodynamic monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management.
• ECMO and PAP line insertion/management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU (CVPICU) of a hospital setting.
• 32-bed unit with an average daily census of 21.
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:00.
• Patient ratio of 1:2.
• Care for post-op open hearts, single ventricles, complex cardiac cases.
• Invasive monitoring including CVP, ART, and RA lines.
• Exposure to ECMO and CRRT is beneficial.
• Use vasopressors and sedation/gtts; administer cardiac meds.
• Provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients post-cardiac surgery.
• First-time travelers are welcome; prior facility staff not eligible for travel positions.

• Skilled in respiratory care including ventilator management, ETCO2 monitoring, BiPAP/CPAP management, ABG interpretation, and airway management
• Skilled in IV therapy including arterial line management, central and PICC line care, and administration of blood products
• Skilled in administration of antiarrhythmics, continuous sedation, IV vasopressors, and pediatric dosage calculations
• Experience with hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
• ECMO and PAP line insertion/management experience preferred

• Must reside outside a 100 mile radius from the facility to be considered
