Job summary

American Traveler seeks a skilled PACU RN for placement at a Level II Trauma Center in Texas. You will apply 2+ years of PACU experience to post-surgical recovery, with an emphasis on airway management, hemodynamic monitoring, and pain control. Travel nursing experience and an active TX or Compact RN license are required.

Qualifications

• Active TX or compact RN license required, in hand before start.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications; PALS preferred.
• NIHSS and Nursys documentation required for consideration.
• Minimum 2 years of PACU experience.
• Prior travel nursing experience.
• Community hospital and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred.
• Skills in airway assessment, ventilated patient care, arterial line management, dysrhythmia recognition, and procedural sedation monitoring.
• Experience with pre/post-operative care, discharge instructions, and medication reconciliation preferred.
• Two supervisor references from within the last 3 years required.

Responsibilities

• Work in the PACU unit of an inpatient hospital.
• Level II Trauma Center environment caring for post-surgical and recovery patients.
• Phase I and Phase II PACU recovery care.
• Cases include neuro/spine, cardiac, ortho, vascular surgeries.
• Patient ratio 1:2.
• EPIC charting experience preferred.
• Day shift: 4x10 hours, 10:30–21:00, rotating day off.
• No on-call requirements.
• Care for patients post various surgeries including cardiac, neuro, ortho.
• Airway management, hemodynamic monitoring, and pain control in post-anesthesia period.

• Day shift schedule, 4x10 hours (10:30-21:00) with a rotating day off
• No call requirements
• Provide recovery care for patients following a wide range of surgical procedures including cardiac, neuro, ortho, and vascular cases
• Responsible for airway management, hemodynamic monitoring, and pain management in the immediate post-anesthesia period
• Must reside within a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates not accepted
• Facility conducts its own onsite drug screening, including marijuana testing, with any positive result resulting in automatic cancellation
• Candidates should avoid substances including CBD products that could affect drug screening results
• Must be available to complete required lab work within 72 hours of accepting an offer or provide a completion plan
• Orientation includes online modules, averaging 2-3 hours, completed during the first 16 hours
