Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an experienced PACU RN for a Level I Trauma Center requiring critical care experience and MO or compact RN licensure. The role involves recovering surgical patients in Parkview Tower with a 1:2 patient ratio, nightly 3x12 shifts, and on-call duties. First travel assignment?

Welcome. Housing and licensure reimbursements are provided. Must reside 75 miles away; Epic EMR is used for charting, and RTO rules apply.

Qualifications

• Active MO or compact RN license required (compact must match permanent residence).
• BLS and ACLS certification required.
• Minimum 1 year of critical care/ICU or Level I PACU experience required.
• Experience with ventilator management and cardiac monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Level I Trauma Center PACU in Parkview Tower.
• Recovers surgical patients including GU, GYN, Colorectal, MIS, Bariatric, ENT; IR pre/post area.
• Patient ratio 1:2.
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (1900-0730), Fri-Sun.
• Night pre-op 05:30–07:30 when no PACU patients.
• On-call 24 hours per 6-week schedule period.
• Floating within service line to meet needs.
• Uses Epic charting system.
• Manage complex postoperative patients with drains, vasoactive drips, ventilation.
• First-time travelers welcome.
• Must reside at least 75 miles away; local candidates not accepted.
• No block scheduling accommodations.
• RTO limited to 7 days; no RTO during first week.
• Returning employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as traveler.
• Travelers may stay up to 18 months, followed by 3-month break.

American Traveler is hiring an experienced PACU RN for a Level I Trauma Center requiring critical care experience and MO or compact RN licensure.

Requirements

• Active MO or compact RN license required (compact must match permanent residence)
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of critical care/ICU experience or Level I Trauma Center PACU experience required
• Experience with ventilator management, cardiac monitoring, and dysrhythmia recognition/management required
• Experience with IV vasopressors and starting/maintaining IVs required
• Pre/post-op patient care experience including pre-op assessment, education, and medications
• Epic EMR experience required
• Must pass Relias EKG exam covering interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Pending license accepted at time of submission

Responsibilities

• Level I Trauma Center PACU in Parkview Tower
• Recovers surgical patients including GU, GYN, Colorectal, minimally invasive, Bariatric, and some ENT cases, plus a separate IR pre/post area
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (1900-0730), working Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
• Night shift nurses pre-op first-case patients from 0530-0730 when no PACU patients are assigned
• On-call requirement of 24 hours per 6-week schedule period
• Floating required within service line to meet facility needs
• Uses Epic charting system
• Manage complex postoperative patients including those with multiple drains, vasoactive drips, mechanical ventilation, and recovery from general anesthesia
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
• No block scheduling accommodations available
• RTO limited to no more than 7 days per contract, with no RTO allowed during the first week of the assignment
• Returning permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
• Standard travelers may stay up to 18 months, followed by a required 3-month break in service
• Scrub color required is navy
• Facial hair must allow for proper fit testing or must be shaved with no exceptions
