Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced PACU RN with a CA license and strong PACU/critical care background for a teaching hospital assignment in San Francisco. The role requires a BSN and relevant certifications, plus travel experience within the last year.

You will perform Phase I/II recovery across diverse surgical services, including orthopedics, ophthalmology, and spine cases. Expect day shifts, potential float, and strict vaccine requirements, with UCSF locations as possible work

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license must be current at submission.
• BSN degree required.
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.
• Minimum of 2 years recent critical care nursing experience.
• Minimum of 1 year inpatient PACU experience required.
• Teaching hospital experience required and noted in employment history.
• Prior travel assignment experience within last 12 months required.
• Knowledge of airway management, anesthesia recovery, and pain management.

Responsibilities

• Provide Phase I and Phase II PACU recovery care.
• Care for orthopedic, ophthalmology, ortho/spine, ortho/total joints, and podiatry cases.
• Manage general, conscious sedation, local, MAC, nerve blocks, and spinal anesthesia types.
• Provide pre/post operative and cath lab care including discharge instructions.
• Work 4x10 hour day shifts, 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM, with possible later starts.
• Floating to other departments/locations within 75+ miles as needed.
• Must be flexible to orient and work at UCSF Medical Center locations.
• COVID-19 vaccination and booster required without exceptions.
• Disclose full history of University of California facility employment for rehire review.
• Disclose any time off at consideration; no mid-contract RTO requests.
• Local candidates accepted at same rate as travelers.

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PACU position requiring a CA RN license and prior PACU/critical care experience at a teaching hospital.

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required at time of submission
• BSN required
• AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• CPAN or CCRN certification preferred
• Minimum of 2 years recent (within the past 5 years) critical care nursing experience
• Minimum of 1 year inpatient PACU experience required
• Teaching hospital experience required and must be noted in employment history
• Prior travel assignment experience within the last 12 months required
• Knowledge of airway management, anesthesia recovery, and pain management required
• Charge RN experience preferred
• 2 professional references from most recent employer required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Work in the PACU unit providing Phase I and Phase II recovery care
• Patient population includes orthopedic, ophthalmology, ortho/spine, ortho/total joints, and podiatry surgical cases
• Cases include total joint replacement, open reduction and internal fixation, and circulation checks
• Anesthesia types encountered include general, conscious sedation, local, MAC, nerve blocks, and spinal
• Provides pre/post operative and pre/post cath lab patient care, including discharge instructions
• Day shift schedule, 4x10 hour shifts, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM with occasional flex to later starts
• Epic charting system preferred
• Required to float to a different department, unit, or facility within a 75+ mile radius if qualified
• Must be flexible to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations
• COVID-19 vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
• Candidates with prior University of California medical facility employment must disclose full details including dates, units, and manager names for rehire eligibility review
• All requested time off must be disclosed at time of consideration and approved by the manager prior to offer; no additional RTO requests accepted mid-contract
• RTO cannot fall within the first two weeks of the assignment start date
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travelers
