Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an RN to join a level 3 trauma teaching hospital in Minnesota, covering PACU, Pre-Op, and Phase 2 recovery across two sites within the same health system. Expect 1:1 patient ratios and a day shift with 3x12-hour shifts from 0530-1800 or 1100-2330.

Travelers must have MN RN license, active BLS/ACLS/PALS, 1-2 years PACU experience, prior travel nursing experience, and Epic/Excellian charting experience. Must live at least 100 miles away; no on-call.

• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (NIHSS and PALS preferred if not already required)
• 1-2 years of PACU specialty experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Epic/Excellian charting experience required

Responsibilities

• Work in the PACU, Pre-Op, and Phase 2 recovery areas of an acute care teaching hospital
• Position covers both the main hospital and the Day Surgery Center, two separate locations within the same health system
• Patient ratio of 1:1
• Day shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts, with options ranging from 0530-1800 to 1100-2330
• Weekend shifts required as needed per unit needs
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required between the main hospital and the Day Surgery Center
• Uses Epic (Excellian) charting system
• Provide pre-op, PACU, and Phase 2 recovery care across surgical specialties including cardiac, neuro/spine, ortho, GI, vascular, and more
• Perform skills such as airway assessment, extubation, arterial line management, and post-cath lab monitoring
• Care for patients undergoing various anesthesia types including general, MAC, spinal, and nerve blocks
• Scrubs are provided by the unit
• Level 3 trauma teaching hospital with 317 staffed beds
• Candidates must live at least 100 miles from the facility to be considered, with no local candidates accepted for this position
• RTO should ideally not exceed 5 days during the assignment
• Returning employees must have a gap of at least 3 months since their last shift worked in a perm staff or per diem role
