Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced PACU RN for a Travel assignment in Midland, Texas. You will work in an inpatient Level III trauma center PACU, handling a wide range of surgical cases with pediatric recovery experience required.

The 5x8 hour day shift (two options 8:00am-4:30pm or 9:00am-5:30pm) offers a 40 hour week, with call responsibilities and a 13-week assignment beginning Oct 5, 2026.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of PACU experience, excluding cardiac surgery.
• Pediatric recovery experience is required.
• Active Texas RN license with BLS/ACLS/PALS and NIH Stroke Scale certifications.

Responsibilities

• Inpatient Phase I PACU and Pedi PACU care in a Level III Trauma Center.
• Day shift, 5x8 hour shifts; options: 8:00am-4:30pm or 9:00am-5:30pm.
• Monitor patients post-anesthesia, support Pre-Op as needed, manage multiple cases.
• Care for a wide range of surgeries including ortho, neuro, general, urology, GYN and pediatric ENT.
• Assure patient safety with nerve blocks, chest tube care, central lines, intubation, A-lines; 1:2 ratio.

Details

• Inpatient Phase I PACU and Pedi PACU setting within a Level III Trauma Center
• Day shift schedule, Monday through Friday, working 5x8 hour shifts
• Two shift options available: 8:00am-4:30pm or 9:00am-5:30pm
• Call requirements apply
• Assists with coverage in Pre-Op as needed
• Recovers a wide range of surgical cases including ortho, neuro, general, urology, dental, GYN, and pediatric ENT (T&A, BMT, etc)
• Monitors patients with nerve blocks, chest tube insertions, central lines, intubation, and A-lines
• 1:2 patient ratio experience required

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of PACU experience preferred, covering all surgeries except cardiac
• Pediatric recovery experience required
• Critical care experience strongly preferred
