Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a CVOR travel assignment in Louisiana. This role requires active Louisiana or Compact RN license, BLS and ACLS certification, and a minimum of 2 years of OR experience with CVOR expertise.

The position includes a day shift from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, with a 7-room CVOR unit handling 10–25 cases daily and on-call coverage on weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Housing and licensure reimbursement are offered.

Qualifications

• Active Louisiana or Compact RN license required and must be in hand at time of consideration.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Minimum 2 years of OR experience; CVOR experience specifically required.
• NURSYS report current within 4 weeks.
• 2 Manager/Supervisor references required for clearance to start; Charge RNs not acceptable.
• Must reside 65+ miles from the facility to be eligible for this position.
• Prior Ochsner Health System staff or contractors must have been separated for at least 1 full year to return as a traveler.

Responsibilities

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a CVOR position requiring a minimum of 2 years of CVOR experience, with on-call responsibilities and a day shift schedule.

Requirements

• Active Louisiana or Compact RN license required and must be in hand at time of consideration
• Current AHA certifications: BLS and ACLS required
• Minimum 2 years of OR experience required; CVOR experience specifically required
• NURSYS report required (must be current within 4 weeks)
• 2 Manager/Supervisor references required for clearance to start (Charge RNs not acceptable)
• Must reside 65+ miles from the facility (based on address on driver's license) to be eligible for this position
• Candidates who previously worked as permanent staff or in-house agency contractors with Ochsner Health System must have been separated for at least 1 full year before being eligible to return as a traveler

• Equipment experience includes electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, and Steris; Da Vinci Xi Surgical System, Cell Saver, and Hana Table experience are a plus
• Green scrubs are provided by the facility
• Orientation is held 5 days a week and includes required facility modules
• Upon accepting an assignment, the unit manager may assign travelers to an Emergency Team, which may require remaining at the facility during or after an emergency event or serving as part of the relief team
• All time-off requests must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process
• First‑time travelers are welcome to apply, provided they have sufficient OR experience
