Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking a Transplant OR RN with strong General OR experience for a weekend night shift in Indianapolis, Indiana. Requires 2 years transplant or General OR experience and an IN or Compact RN license.

This travel position offers housing support, travel reimbursement, and comprehensive benefits. You will work 3x12 hour night shifts, support transplant cases including kidney, pancreas, liver, and multi-visceral procedures, and rotate weekends with call responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in IN or Compact must be in hand before start date.
• BLS certification required.
• Minimum 2 years transplant OR OR experience, or strong General OR with transplant training.
• Experience with General Surgery procedures (appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair).
• Robotic surgery experience preferred (Da Vinci Xi) and transplant robotics.
• Experience with Universal Protocol (Time Out), specimen handling/labeling, laser safety, and radiation safety.
• RN education from ACEN or CCNE-accredited program at graduation.
• Two supervisor references required.

Responsibilities

• Operate OR unit specializing in abdominal transplants: kidney, pancreas, liver, and intestinal/multi-visceral.
• Weekend night shifts and rotating weekday; 3x12 hour shifts 7:00 PM–7:30 AM.
• Call and holiday coverage required; possible travel within facility.
• Use Cerner for charting and perform surgical nursing duties for transplant cases.
• Participate in organ donation and transplant regulatory charting.
• Work with Indiana residents local pay rate considerations; open to traveler status.
• Parking is free at the facility.

• Experience with General Surgery procedures such as appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, and hernia repair
• Robotic surgery experience preferred, including Da Vinci Xi, colorectal, gastrointestinal, and transplant robotics
• Experience with Universal Protocol (Time Out) procedures, specimen handling/labeling, laser safety, and radiation safety
• RN education must be from a university accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation
• 2 supervisor references required
• SSN and DOB required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Operating Room unit specializing solely in abdominal transplants: kidney, pancreas, liver, and intestinal/multi-visceral
• Pediatric transplants are performed at an affiliated children's hospital and are not part of this role
• Weekend night shifts (Sat and Sun) plus one rotating weekday, 3x12 hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Call and holiday coverage required
• Floating required within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital
• Uses Cerner for charting
• Perform surgical nursing duties supporting abdominal transplant procedures including kidney, pancreas, liver, and intestinal/multi-visceral cases
• Participate in organ donation and transplant-related regulatory charting
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply if they have strong 2 years of transplant experience
• Indiana residents are considered local and may be offered the position at a lower, in-state pay rate
• Former IU Health perm or PRN employees must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler
• Current or past IU Health travelers with 12 months of accrued travel employment must take a designated break to reset eligibility: 90 days for out-of-state residents, 180 days for in-state residents
