Job summary

• Day shift: 5x8-hour shifts, 08:30–17:00, Monday to Friday; no on-call or weekends.
• Occasional cross-coverage to other transplant units as needed.
• Assist with organ offers, UNOS regulations, and donor coordination.

American Traveler is seeking a Transplant RN for an outpatient clinic role requiring DC RN licensure and 2 years of pediatric pre/post liver and small bowel transplant experience.

Requirements

• Active DC RN license required in hand at time of submission
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of experience in pediatric pre/post liver transplant, small bowel transplant, and hepatology care
• Completion of at least one prior travel assignment required
• Flu vaccine required by facility policy

Responsibilities

• Outpatient clinic setting specializing in pediatric pre/post liver and small bowel transplant and hepatology care
• Provides patient care coordination including labs, imaging, phone triage, and multidisciplinary communication
• Day shift schedule, 5x8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, 0830-1700
• No on-call or weekend requirements, with holiday coverage as needed
• Floating required to other transplant units
• Local rate applies within 60 miles of the facility
• Coordinates all aspects of patient care before, during, and after transplantation
• Assists with organ offers, acceptance, and recipient preparation per UNOS regulations
• Uses transplant-specific databases such as UNet, DonorNet, and TIEDI
• Tracks patient outcomes and completes regulatory data forms and logs
• Educates patients and families on pre- and post-transplant health maintenance
• May come into contact with COVID-19 patients
• Nurses with previous MedStar employment must have been separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler
• RTO limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract, with no time off permitted during the first two weeks of assignment
