Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an RN Nurse Lead for a Level III NICU in California. The candidate must hold a CA RN license, possess Charge RN experience, and bring high-risk delivery expertise. Supervisory skills and a BSN are required.

The role features a night shift (3x12s), no mandatory call (on-call voluntary), and unit-based leadership with collaboration among physicians, staff, and management. Local candidates welcome at travel pay rates.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license required.
• Current BLS, NRP, and PALS certifications.
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience.
• Prior Charge RN experience required.
• High-risk delivery experience required.
• BSN or equivalent education/experience required.
• Supervisory experience or demonstrated supervisory skills required.

Responsibilities

• Lead Level III NICU within an acute care center.
• Night shift, 3x12s, 6:30 PM–7:00 AM, no set or rotating schedule.
• No mandatory call; on-call participation is voluntary.
• Provides unit-based leadership with Nurse Manager, Director, physicians, and staff
• Supervises and directs nursing and ancillary personnel across levels
• Leads development and provision of unit-based clinical services
• Coordinates care conferences with health team, patients, and families to revise plans
• Monitors personnel performance to ensure quality and safety of care
• Participates directly in patient care as needed
• Fosters patient- and family-centered care with cultural sensitivity
• Makes patient rounds and solicits feedback on quality of nursing services
• Develops strategies with leadership to improve satisfaction of patients, families, physicians
• Candidates with more than 5 days of requested RTO will be automatically declined
• Candidates with any prior adverse licensure action will not be considered
• Local candidates are accepted at the same pay rate as travel candidates
