Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Level 1B NICU RN for a 13-week travel assignment in Massachusetts. The role requires 2+ years of NICU experience and an active MA RN license in hand, with ESC and NRP certifications.

The 4-bed unit operates at a 3:1 patient ratio and uses advanced monitoring and lighting equipment. The shift is 11:00 AM–11:30 PM with every-other weekend and holiday coverage as needed.

Qualifications

• Active Massachusetts RN license in hand prior to consideration (compact license not accepted).
• Minimum 2 years of current Level 1B+ NICU experience.
• Experience with ESC (Eat, Sleep, Console) infants exposed to opioids in utero.
• Experience with TTN (Transient Tachypnea) infants.
• Experience with blood sugar stabilization.
• Experience with infants requiring respiratory support, including High Flow Nasal Cannula.
• Active BLS certification (AHA or ARC).
• NRP certification required.
• One supervisory signed reference from within the past two years.
• Skills checklist for NICU current within 1 year required.
• Must have own vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Level 1B NICU/Continuing Care Nursery setting within a teaching hospital.
• 4-bed unit with a 3:1 patient ratio.
• Cares for late preterm infants (35+ weeks) and infants with health complications.
• Uses cardiopulmonary monitors, LED phototherapy lights, radiant warming units, resuscitation centers, IV infusion pumps, and isolettes.
• Meditech Expanse EMR experience highly preferred.
• 12-hour afternoon/mid shift schedule, 11:00 AM-11:30 PM.
• Every other weekend required, plus holidays if needed.
• No on-call requirements.
• Provide specialized neonatal care in a continuing care nursery using advanced monitoring and life support technology.
• Facility-provided scrubs.
• Non-billable orientation of 8 hours.
• Must work two designated holiday blocks if scheduled: Thanksgiving/day after/weekend after, Christmas Eve through Christmas Day/weekend after, and New Year's Eve through New Year's Day/weekend after.
• Maximum of 5 days RTO accepted during the assignment, and must be submitted at time of profile upload.
• Block scheduling requests and post-offer schedule change requests will not be considered.
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility will not be considered.
