American Traveler Staffing Professionals™ is seeking an experienced RN for a Level II NICU travel assignment in Clinton, Maryland. The role requires NRP and STABLE certifications, plus prior travel experience to support neonatal care in a hospital setting.

You will work day shifts, 3x12 hours, with duties including stabilization, ventilator management, and care for neonates 24+ weeks gestation. Cerner charting and CPAP/BiPAP support are used.

  • Minimum 2 years NICU II experience within the last 7 years.

Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level II NICU position requiring NRP and STABLE certification along with prior travel assignment experience.

Details
  • Level II NICU/Special Care Nursery setting within a hospital
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 0700-1900
  • Every other weekend and every other holiday required
  • Float to Postpartum and Labor and Delivery for neonatal care required
  • Cares for neonates ranging from less than 24-28 weeks to greater than 34 weeks gestation
  • Uses Cerner charting system
  • Uses ventilation systems for High-Flow O2, CPAP, and Mechanical Ventilation
  • Uses Point of Care Blood Glucose Measurement devices and BD Alaris Smart Pumps
Requirements
  • Active RN license (MD or Compact) currently in hand
  • Current certifications: BLS, NRP, and STABLE
  • Minimum 2 years of NICU II experience required within the last 7 years
  • CPAP experience required
  • Must have completed at least one prior travel assignment
  • Must pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with a minimum 80% overall score and 100% on lethal rhythms
  • Proficient in respiratory support via High Flow O2, CPAP, Bubble CPAP, and Mechanical Ventilation
  • Proficient in central line management, peripheral IV insertion, lab draws, and IV antibiotic administration
  • Knowledge of apnea and bradycardia related to pre-term infants
  • Experience stabilizing newborns less than 32 weeks and preparing for transport to a Level III facility
  • Experience with thermoregulation in premature and full-term infants, including passive cooling
  • Skills in IV therapy, blood and blood product administration, UAC care, and neonatal dosage calculations
  • Skills in ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP), dysrhythmia interpretation, and isolation precautions
  • Record of multiple successfully completed travel assignments with no cancellations
  • Two supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment
Additional Information
  • Provide consistent monitoring and stabilization of cardiopulmonary, neurologic, metabolic, and thermal functions in neonates
  • Assist with specialized procedures such as lumbar puncture and endotracheal resuscitation for newborns 32 weeks or greater
  • Initiate, modify, or stop treatment according to established protocols or physician orders
  • Previous charge experience preferred
  • Local candidates within 60 miles accepted at a lower rate
  • Candidates with previous employment at this health system must have been separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler
  • RTO limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract, with no time off permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment
