Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a float position in Washington. Requires charge nurse experience and a WA or compact RN license. BLS mandatory; ACLS/NIHSS preferred. Epic EMR experience is required.

Expect day shifts (4x12s) 7:00 AM–7:30 PM, with float duties and potential charge nurse responsibilities on select units. Housing allowance and travel reimbursements offered to eligible travelers.

• US clinical experience; Canadian experience alone does not qualify.

Responsibilities

• Float responsibilities across the MS/Tele unit within a short term acute care hospital setting.
• Care for patient populations including telemetry and med/surg cases.
• Nurse to patient ratio varies from 1:4–6 depending on unit acuity.
• Day shift 4x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM.
• Charge nurse duties may apply on small units where RN acts as sole charge nurse.
• Utilize Epic charting system.

• Active WA or compact RN license required, must be in hand at time of submission
• Minimum of 2 years RN experience required
• Previous charge nurse experience required
• US clinical experience required; Canadian experience alone does not qualify
• BLS certification required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred
• Experience with cardiac telemetry, cardiac monitoring, and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Skilled in isolation precautions/PPE and nasal cannula respiratory support
• Epic EMR experience required

Responsibilities

• Short term acute care hospital setting on the MS/Tele unit with float responsibilities across the institution
• Patient population varies and can include ER boarded patients, telemetry, and med surg cases
• Nurse to patient ratio varies from 1:4-6 depending on unit acuity
• Day shift schedule, 4x12 hours, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Charge nurse responsibilities may apply on select small units where the RN functions as sole charge nurse
• Uses Epic charting system
• May be required to float between sister facilities near the contracted facility
• Manage staffing needs, bed flow, and general coordination when serving in charge nurse capacity
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• All RTO and specific scheduling requests must be submitted upfront; post-offer RTO requests may not be granted
• Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate within a 50-mile radius
• Former Providence permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a travamiler and cannot live within 50 miles of the facility
• Two supervisory references required, covering 1 year of experience within the last 3 years
• First-time travelers are not preferred for this role
