Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for night shifts on a locked incarcerated unit. Requires Med/Surg Tele experience, TN license or compact license, BLS, ACLS, NIHSS and CPI certifications, and comfort with forensic patients.

Responsibilities include 3x12-hour nights, telemetry monitoring, chemotherapy administration, and Cerner charting across Med/Surg Tele, with holiday coverage expected and travel perks available.

Qualifications

• TN state RN license or compact multi-state license is required.
• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS and CPI certifications are required (MAB accepted in lieu of CPI).
• Minimum 1 year Med/Surg Tele nursing experience required.
• Prior charge nurse and telemetry experience preferred.
• Experience with chemotherapy is preferred.
• Comfort working with incarcerated/forensic populations.

Responsibilities

• Care for Med/Surg Tele patients on a locked incarcerated/forensic unit.
• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00.
• Float to other Med/Surg Tele units, including forensics and ICU as needed.
• Perform cardiac monitoring and interpret/dysrhythmia management.
• Administer chemotherapy and care for oncology patients.
• Document in Cerner; respond to dysrhythmias promptly.
• Adhere to no-call policy and provide care for telemetry patients.

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position on a locked incarcerated unit, requiring prior Med/Surg Tele experience and comfort working with the forensic patient population.

Requirements

• Active TN state RN license or compact multi-state license required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and CPI (MAB accepted in lieu of CPI)
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg Tele nursing experience required
• Prior charge nurse experience preferred
• Telemetry experience preferred
• Experience administering chemotherapy preferred
• Comfortable working with incarcerated/forensic patient population

Responsibilities

• Med/Surg Tele unit located on a locked incarcerated/forensic unit within the hospital
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
• Float required to other Med/Surg Tele units, including forensics, inpatient units, and potentially ICU
• Cardiac monitoring with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Oncology patient population with chemotherapy administration
• Cerner charting system experience required
• Strict no-call policy
• Provide nursing care to medical-surgical and telemetry patients, including those on a locked incarcerated unit
• Perform cardiac monitoring and respond to dysrhythmias as needed
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
• Holiday coverage required, with contract nurses expected to work 3 of 6 designated holidays (Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day) based on assigned holiday group
• Contracts starting in September should extend into the new year to ensure holiday coverage
• RTO requests for designated holidays will not be approved for contracts beginning in September
