American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift float position in Maryland. Requires MD or compact RN license, travel experience, and Relias EKG exam success. Certifications include BLS and NIHSS; ACLS preferred.

Responsibilities include direct patient care on Med/Surg Tele, 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio, and Cerner charting. Compensation reflects high pay with potential bonuses; 60-mile local radius offers lower rates.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (MD or compact) required.
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications; ACLS preferred.
• Minimum 2 years recent RN experience (last 7 years).
• Must have at least one prior travel assignment.
• Must pass Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation exam (80% overall, 100% lethal rhythms).
• Two supervisory references confirming 2+ years in past 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct Med/Surg Tele care in a hospital setting.
• Maintain patient ratio around 1:6.
• Night shift schedule: 3x12 or 4x12 hours.
• Work every other weekend; holiday coverage as needed.
• Float within skill set and acuity; no on-call requirement.
• Cerner charting experience required.
• Manage float population per assignment as needed.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift float position requiring MD or compact RN license and completion of at least one prior travel assignment.

Requirements

• Active RN license, compact or MD license required
• Current certifications: BLS and NIHSS required, ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience within the last 7 years required
• Must have completed at least one previous travel assignment
• Must successfully pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with a minimum overall score of 80% and 100% on lethal rhythms
• Two supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment, supporting at least 2 years of experience in the previous 3 years
• Experience required in skills such as IV therapy/phlebotomy, port access/management, blood product administration, PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Respiratory care experience required, including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube care, high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy care
• Experience with neurological conditions such as CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and heparin protocols
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience with renal and genitourinary care including pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure
• Experience with surgical drains and orthopedic care including total joint replacement
• Driver's license required at time of consideration

• No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment, with a maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract
• Local candidates within 60 miles are accepted at a lower pay rate
• Previous MedStar employees must have been separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler
• Candidates may only be considered for one MedStar location at a time
• Manager interviews are not guaranteed
