Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry Float Pool position in a Boston-area facility. The role requires an active MA license, Level I trauma experience, and Epic proficiency, with prior travel nursing experience preferred.

RNs will float across 15 medical-surgical units in a 600-bed hospital, with 4:1 day and 6:1 night patient ratios. Shifts rotate between 8- and 12-hour days/nights; assignments can change with short notice and no set schedule.

Qualifications

• Active MA RN license required.
• BLS and ACLS certification through AHA required.
• Minimum 3+ years of related RN work experience required.
• Prior travel nursing experience required.
• Level I trauma experience required.
• Epic EMR experience required.
• Basic computer and web-based navigation skills required.
• Teaching hospital and specialty area experience preferred.
• Must pass Tele/ECG and medication competency testing.

Responsibilities

• Float pool position supporting 15 medical-surgical units within a 600-bed facility.
• Specialty areas include neurology, cardiac, bariatric, general medicine, general surgery, GYN, GU, hips and joints, oncology, and liver/kidney/vascular transplant.
• Patient ratios average 4:1 on days and 6:1 on nights.
• Unit-specific procedures include 12-lead EKGs, lasix drips, blood transfusions, and telemetry monitoring.
• RNs administer nebulizers; RT manages ventilators.
• Rotating 8H and 12H day/night shifts with every other weekend and holidays required.
• No on-call requirements.
• Assigned to the medical-surgical float pool, supporting multiple specialty units as needed.
• Weekly orientation held every Monday, barring holidays.
• RTO requests limited to no more than 3 days and must be submitted at time of consideration.

• Any color scrubs permitted
• Public transportation available; on-site parking may cost up to $43/day
• COVID vaccine plus booster and flu vaccine required, with medical exemptions allowed
• Previous BILH employees (travel, perm, or per diem) must complete a 6-month break before returning to any Beth Israel Lahey Health facility
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius; local candidates are not accepted
