American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Ortho unit at a Level 1 trauma facility in Morgantown, WV. The role emphasizes total joint replacement experience and offers night shifts on a 12-hour schedule.

The ideal candidate will hold an active WV or compact RN license, BLS certification, and at least 2 years of RN experience in orthopedics, with full COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemption. A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel are required.

Responsibilities

• Telemetry available; RNs not required to titrate drips
• Night shifts: 12-hour shifts
• Weekend rotation and holidays as scheduled
• May float to adjacent units (7E/7W/10W/10E)
• EPIC EMR documentation and patient care coordination

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Ortho unit requiring strong total joint replacement experience and night shift availability at a Level 1 trauma facility.

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Strong total joint replacement experience required, not just fracture care
• Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or submit an approved medical or religious exemption
• Unexpired driver's license required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Acute care Med Surg/Ortho unit within a Level 1 trauma hospital
• 22-bed unit with patient ratios of 1:5-6
• Common diagnoses include ortho joint replacements and fractures
• RNs are not required to titrate drips
• Unit has telemetry but RNs are not required to read strips
• CNAs on staff at a ratio of 1:7-8 to support nursing care
• Charge Nurse coverage available 24/7
• RT support available as needed for equipment such as CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow
• Night shift schedule with 12-hour shifts
• Weekend requirement of every other weekend or 2 weekend shifts per schedule
• Holiday rotation required as scheduled
• Possible floating to 7E, 7W, 10W, or 10E
• EPIC EMR used
• Provide direct patient care to orthopedic patients including joint replacements and fracture cases
• Unit/department orientation consists of 1-2 shifts
• Scrub color is royal blue
• Holiday coverage expected as part of the travel assignment rotation
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility
• Previous permanent staff must have a 2-year break before returning as travelers
• Previous travelers who completed a full year must take a 2-year break before returning
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
