Job summary

American Traveler, LLC is seeking an RN for an Outpatient Oncology Chemo Certified role in Texas. The candidate must hold an active TX RN license, BLS, and ONS/ONCC chemo certification, with 2+ years oncology experience and prior travel nursing exposure.

Responsibilities include infusion center duties, chemo/immunotherapy administration, 1:8 patient ratio, and Epic charting. Onsite onboarding completes quickly, with a day shift schedule and travel requirements.

Qualifications

• Active TX RN license in hand at consideration.
• BLS certification required.
• ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate required.
• OCN certification preferred.
• Minimum 2 years oncology/chemo nursing experience.
• Prior travel nursing experience required.
• Preferred charge nurse experience.
• IV therapy, port/PICC care, blood draws experience.
• Chemotherapy, blood products, coagulation factors administration.
• Knowledge of neutropenic precautions.
• Experience with various cancer types.

Responsibilities

• Outpatient oncology and infusion center setting.
• Treats cancer diagnoses including malignant and non-malignant hematology conditions.
• Patient ratio of 1:8.
• Day shift schedule, 5x8-hour shifts from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
• Uses Epic charting system.
• Administer chemotherapy and immunotherapy and monitor adverse reactions.
• Provide patient and family education and psychosocial support.
• Manage pain with IV push narcotics and transdermal patches.
• Handle body fluids and cytotoxic spills per safety protocols.
• Complete core onboarding items and labs within 48 hours of contract signing.
• Complete onsite orientation modules (4–6 hours for RNs).
• Candidates residing in certain nearby Texas counties are not eligible.
• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted.
• Former staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler.
• No travel pairs or groups accepted.
• All requested time off must be submitted at consideration.

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS certification required
• ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate required (Fundamentals certificate not accepted)
• OCN certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of oncology/chemo nursing experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Preferred charge nurse experience
• Skilled in IV therapy, port access and management, central/PICC line care, and blood draws
• Experience administering chemotherapy, blood products, and coagulation factors
• Competent in recognizing and managing oncologic emergencies such as tumor lysis syndrome, anaphylaxis, extravasation, hemorrhage, sepsis, and spinal cord compression
• Skilled in symptom and side effect management related to chemotherapy and immunotherapy
• Experience caring for patients with various cancer types including breast, lung, colorectal, kidney, prostate, and blood cancers
• Knowledge of neutropenic precautions and phlebotomy

• Candidates residing in certain nearby Texas counties are not eligible for consideration
• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
• Former staff must wait at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• No travel pairs or groups accepted
• All requested time off must be submitted at time of consideration, with no more than 3 days auto-approved and none during the first week of orientation
