Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced Oncology RN for an outpatient clinic position within a large academic medical center and Level I Trauma Center.

The role requires a CT or compact RN license and solid surgical oncology experience, with 4x10-hour day shifts from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM. Responsibilities include triage, in-basket management, and assisting providers during visits, plus direct patient care and education for surgical oncology patients and those undergoing cancer

Qualifications

• Active CT or compact RN license required (or eligible to apply before start).
• Minimum 2 years of recent oncology RN experience; 1.5 years considered for Level I Trauma or travel experience.
• Surgical oncology experience is required.
• Experience with post-surgical patient care and oncologic emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Outpatient oncology clinic within a large academic medical center and Level I Trauma Center.
• Day shift, 4x10-hour shifts from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM.
• Care for breast, surgery, and plastic surgery oncology patients; triage & educator roles.
• Provide direct patient care and education for oncology patients undergoing surgical treatment.
• Coordinate care and manage side effects of cancer treatments; psychosocial support.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology RN for an outpatient clinic position at a Level I Trauma Center, requiring a CT or compact RN license and surgical oncology experience.

Requirements

• Active CT or compact RN license required (or eligible to apply prior to start)
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of recent oncology RN experience required (1.5 years considered for Level I Trauma or travel experience)
• Surgical oncology experience required
• Experience with post-surgical patient care
• Skilled in recognizing and managing oncologic emergencies such as anaphylaxis, sepsis, and tumor lysis syndrome
• Knowledge of chemotherapy administration, biotherapy, and immunotherapy preferred
• Experience caring for patients with various cancer diagnoses including breast, lung, colorectal, and blood cancers preferred
• Familiarity with neutropenic precautions and isolation protocols
• 1 professional reference required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Outpatient oncology clinic setting within a large academic medical center and Level I Trauma Center
• Day shift schedule, 4x10-hour shifts from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM
• Patient population includes breast surgery and plastic surgery oncology patients
• Responsibilities include telephone triage, in-basket management, and assisting providers during clinic visits
• Handles new and returning patient visits along with pre-op and post-op teaching
• Epic charting system used
• Provide direct patient care and education for oncology patients undergoing surgical treatment
• Coordinate care and support symptom management for side effects of cancer treatments
• Participate in psychosocial care including advanced directives and hospice care education
• Royal blue scrub color required
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
• COVID vaccine and booster required, with medical or religious exemptions only
• Local candidates not accepted; candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the hospital site
• Former staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be considered as a traveler
• Up to 7 days of RTO may be auto-approved
• Large Level I Trauma Center and academic medical center environment
