Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Oncology Med/Surg RN for a Level I Trauma Center in Memphis. Active TN/compact RN license required with ONC certification and prior travel assignment experience.

The role supports team nursing with 1:6 ratios, night shifts (3x12s), and on-call/weekend coverage. Candidates should have 2+ years oncology med/surg nursing, BLS, and chemo administration skills; ACLS and chemo certifications preferred.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in TN or compact with NLC guidelines.
• Minimum 2 years of oncology med/surg experience; 3+ preferred.
• ADN accepted.
• Level I Trauma Center experience required.
• Prior charge nurse experience preferred.
• Travel assignment experience required; first-time travelers not accepted.
• BLS required; ACLS and chemo certifications preferred, chemo certification strongly preferred.
• Skilled in IV therapy, port access, central line and PICC care, and chemotherapy administration.
• Experience managing oncologic emergencies (tumor lysis syndrome, sepsis, anaphylaxis).
• Knowledge of psychosocial care, symptom management, hospice/advanced directive support.

Responsibilities

• Inpatient Medical Surgical Oncology unit within a Level I Trauma Center.
• Team nursing model with 1:6 patient ratios across RNs, LPNs, med nurse, and charge nurse.
• Night shift: 7:00 PM–7:00 AM; 3x12-hour shifts.
• On-call and weekend coverage; floating within 20 miles.
• Epic charting system; Cerner experience preferred.
• Provide direct oncology patient care including breast, lung, colorectal, and hematologic cancers.
• Administer chemotherapy and manage related side effects and emergencies.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team across nursing staff.
• Work 2 of 3 major holidays if they fall during assignment.

• Administer chemotherapy and manage associated side effects and emergencies
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including med nurses, LPNs, and charge nurses
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's) if all fall within assignment, or at least 1 of 2 if only two occur
• Local candidates must reside at least 100 miles from the facility to be considered
• Former permanent staff or travelers must be separated from the facility for at least one year before returning
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this role
• All RTO must be submitted and approved prior to offer acceptance
