Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Oncology RN for a 10-week winter assignment in a Magnet-designated teaching hospital’s inpatient oncology unit. Day shifts are 3x12 hours (0700-1930) with every-other weekend, floating as needed.

You will administer chemotherapy, manage symptoms, and coordinate patient care. Requirements include an active CT or compact RN license, a minimum of 3 years in oncology, Charge RN and Trauma Level I experience, and Epic charting proficiency.

Qualifications

• Active RN license, CT or compact, required.
• Minimum 3 years RN experience in oncology.
• Charge RN experience required.
• Trauma Level I experience required.
• Travel nursing experience required.
• Epic charting experience required.
• BLS certification required.
• Chemotherapy certifications preferred (ONS/ONCC).
• Experience with IV therapy and central line/PICC care.
• Experience managing oncologic emergencies (ATLS, sepsis, anaphylaxis).
• Care for cancer diagnoses including breast, lung, colorectal, leukemia, lymphoma.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct inpatient oncology nursing care including chemotherapy administration and symptom management.
• Coordinate care and discharge planning for oncology patients.
• Perform/assist with charting in Epic; ensure accurate documentation.
• Cover 10-week winter assignment in an inpatient oncology unit (186 beds).
• Maintain 1:4 nurse-patient ratio and 3x12 hour day shifts (0700-1930).

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology RN for a 10-week winter coverage assignment requiring a CT or compact RN license and prior chemotherapy/oncology experience.

Requirements

• Previous Charge RN experience required
• Trauma Level I experience required
• Travel nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• BLS certification required
• Chemotherapy (ONS/ONCC) and OCN certifications preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, port access/management, central line and PICC line care
• Experience administering chemotherapy and managing oncologic emergencies (ATLS, anaphylaxis, extravasation, sepsis, spinal cord compression)
• Experience caring for patients with various cancer diagnoses including breast, lung, colorectal, leukemia, and lymphoma
• Knowledge of psychosocial care including advanced directives, hospice, and patient/family education
• 1 reference required for consideration

• Royal blue scrubs required
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
• COVID vaccine and booster required, with religious/medical exemptions only
• No holiday RTO permitted during this assignment
• Maximum of 5 days RTO allowed
• Radius restrictions waived for this 10-week assignment
• Returning staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be eligible as a traveler
• Free parking available in any unrestricted space
