Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool assignment at a Magnet-designated teaching hospital in Washington. The role requires Level II trauma experience and a WA or compact RN license, with day and night 12-hour shifts and floating across med/surg, telemetry, ortho, and neurosurgery units.

You will work 4x12 schedules with a patient ratio of 1:5 and must have BLS; EPIC experience; capable of rapid response and post-MI care; COVID vaccination is required.

Qualifications

• Unit covers medical, surgical, medical tele, surgical tele, infusion, ortho, and neurosurgery patients.
• Patient ratio of 1:5.
• Day shift (4x12, 7:00-19:30) or Night shift (4x12, 19:00-7:30) schedules available.
• Required to work every other weekend.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool position requiring Level II trauma experience and a WA or compact RN license.

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Level II trauma experience required
• BLS certification required
• ACLS, CPI, and NIHSS certifications preferred
• EPIC charting experience required
• Must complete Relias EKG tele compliance test
• Experience with telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and rapid response/code team activation
• Skills in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, HFNC, tracheostomy care, and oxygen administration
• IV therapy skills including central line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, cardiac drip management, and post-MI/cardiac cath care
• Experience with wound care, IV insulin protocols, and orthopedic care including total joint replacement
• 2 professional references required, preferably supervisory

Responsibilities

• Floating within the hospital required, within scope of practice
• No floating to sister hospitals
• No call requirements
• Uses EPIC charting system
• Provide nursing care across a float pool covering med/surg, telemetry, ortho, and neurosurgery patients
• Monthly parking cost of $85.15 applies
• Scrubs provided for OR personnel; any scrub color accepted otherwise
• COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
• First-time travelers may be considered and can be screened by the manager
• Prior UW Medical Center staff must have an 18-month separation before returning as a travel employee
• RTO should be kept to a minimum and cannot be requested during the first two weeks of the assignment
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no mile radius restriction
• Pre-start non-billable training modules required, approximately 6-8 hours for RNs
