American Traveler, LLC. is hiring a Med/Surg Float RN for a night shift float pool in Newport News, VA. Requires active VA RN license, BLS/NIHSS, and 2+ years of RN experience with neuro/CVA exposure.

Role covers Med/Surg, MS/Tele, and Orthopedics units with a 1:6 patient ratio. Travel not required but open to locals at the same pay rate; EOW and 3x12 schedules apply.

Qualifications

• Active VA RN license in hand or compact license.
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience.
• Specialty experience within the last year.
• EPIC charting experience preferred.
• NIH Stroke Scale and stroke education required.
• CVA skills preferred.
• SSN required for consideration.

Responsibilities

• Float across Med/Surg, MS/Tele, and Orthopedics units including ortho trauma and joint replacements.
• Care for neurological/psychiatric and CVA patients with cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management.
• Maintain patient ratio of 1:6.
• Night shift 3x12s: 7:00 PM–7:00 AM.
• Every other weekend (EOW) required.
• Floating may be requested based on facility needs.
• Provide care across multiple units as part of a float pool model.
• Locals accepted at the same pay rate.

• Active VA RN license in hand or proof of compact license required at time of consideration
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred, all through the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Specialty experience within the last year required
• EPIC charting experience preferred
• NIH Stroke Scale and stroke education required
• CVA skills preferred
• SSN required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Float position covering Med/Surg, MS/Tele, and Orthopedics units, including ortho trauma and total joint replacement cases
• Patient population includes neurological/psychiatric and CVA cases requiring cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Every other weekend (EOW) required
• Floating may be requested based on facility needs
• Provide care across multiple units as part of a float pool model
• Locals accepted at the same pay rate
• Prior permanent employees must have a 6-month gap before being eligible to travel
• RTO should be minimized, with no calendar week off preferred and no more than 7 days total during the assignment
• All RTO requests must be submitted and approved prior to offer; no additional requests considered after offer
• Travel experience not required, open to first-time travelers
