American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Float RN for a California assignment requiring CA licensure, EPIC experience, and telemtry with heavy orthopedic exposure. The role includes a 3x12 day shift schedule, 1:4 patient ratio, and potential to float to Med-Surg units.

Average census is 36 across 36 rooms, with opportunities for travel perks, housing assistance, and licensure reimbursement. Return staff reviewed case-by-case; local candidates welcome at travel rate.

Formación

• Active CA RN license required at time of submission.
• Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience; total joint orthopedic experience.
• Minimum 3 years of overall RN experience; CA hospital experience.
• EPIC experience required; reading cardiac rhythm strips essential.
• ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certifications required.
• On-unit and remote telemetry monitoring skills.
• Experience with rapid response teams and central/PICC/IV care.
• Blood product administration and starting IVs.
• Ability to manage heparin protocols and cardiac/vasoactive drips.
• Chest tube management; CPAP/BiPAP/high flow needs; post-cath/MI care.

Responsabilidades

• MS/Tele Float position with potential to float to Med-Surg units.
• Care for adolescent to geriatric patients in general medical-surgical and orthopedic cases.
• Day shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM; every other weekend.
• No on-call requirements; local candidates accepted at travel rate.
• Perform telemetry monitoring and respond to abnormal rhythms.
• Collaborate with care teams to ensure patient safety and quality care.
• Maintain scrub standard and professional appearance; royal blue scrubs required.
• Coordinate with Rapid Response Teams as needed.

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience required
• Minimum 3 years of overall RN experience required
• CA hospital experience required
• EPIC experience required
• Total joint orthopedic experience required
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Skilled in on-unit and remote telemetry monitoring
• Experience with use of Rapid Response Teams
• Skilled in central line, PICC line, and peripheral IV care/management
• Experience with blood product administration and starting IVs
• Experience managing Heparin protocols and cardiac/vasoactive drips without titration
• Skilled in chest tube management (Emerson/Pleuravac)
• Experience with CPAP, BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy management
• Experience with pre/post cardiac catheterization, angiogram, MI, and cardiac surgery care
• References required for consideration

Responsibilities

• MS/Tele Float position with potential to float to Med-Surg units
• Average census of 36 with 36 rooms/beds and a 1:4 patient ratio
• Patient population ranges from adolescents to geriatrics
• General medical surgical patients with moderate volume of orthopedic surgical cases
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Every other weekend coverage required
• No on-call requirements
• Royal blue scrubs required
• Care for patients requiring telemetry monitoring alongside general medical-surgical and orthopedic surgical needs
• Floating to Med-Surg units may be required based on facility needs
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Return staff will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis
• Local candidates accepted at the travel rate
• All requested time off must be submitted with the initial application for the full 13-week contract
• No time off approved during the first two weeks of the assignment
• Once submitted, time off requests cannot be changed except to cancel
• Facility is a smoke and nicotine-free environment; candidates must arrive free of tobacco odor
• Advanced EKG exam required prior to start, with two attempts allowed and an 80% minimum passing score
