Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for our Med/Surg Float Pool in the Baltimore area. The role requires MD or compact RN licensure, current BLS/ACLS/NIHSS, and at least two years recent experience including prior travel assignments.

The position features a night shift, 4x12 hours, and a 1:5 patient ratio within MS/Tele units. As a float nurse you will cover cardiac telemetry and general telemetry care across MS/Tele, with requirements for IV therapy, port access, PICC management, and

Qualifications

• Active MD RN license or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience within the last 7 years
• At least one prior travel assignment required
• Must pass Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with a minimum 80% overall score and 100% on lethal rhythms
• Skills include cardiac telemetry, MS/Tele, and general telemetry care
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, port access/management, blood product administration, and PICC line management
• Two supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment, supporting at least 2 years of experience within the previous 3 years

Responsibilities

• Float position within the MS/Tele Float Pool unit
• Cardiac telemetry and medical-surgical patient population
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours
• Float within skillset required
• Every other weekend coverage required
• Holiday coverage as needed
• Provide nursing care across medical-surgical and telemetry units as part of a float pool team
• Flu vaccine required for all employees
• Scrubs navy color required; scrubs not provided
• Must reside within 60 miles for consideration at the local rate
• No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment
• Maximum of 7 days RTO allowed per 13-week contract
• Previous MedStar employees must have been separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler
