Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN for night shifts at a Level III Trauma Center in Washington. The position requires at least 1 year of Med/Surg experience, a WA or compact RN license, and BLS certification. Skills include IV therapy, blood products, central/PICC line care, GI and renal care, chest tube and oxygen management.

Epic charting is used. Local housing and travel reimbursements available.

Qualifications

• Active WA or compact RN license required in hand at submission.
• Minimum 1 year Med/Surg RN experience.
• BLS certification required.
• Experience with GI and renal/urinary care essential.
• Preference for Wound care, isolation precautions, and rapid response team exposure.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care on a Med/Surg unit in a Level III Trauma Center.
• Work night shift: 7:00 PM–7:00 AM, 3x12-hour shifts, block scheduling.
• Maintain patient ratio of 6:1 and float between units as needed.
• Support rapid response and code team activations; utilize Epic charting.
• Follow isolation precautions and PPE protocols; participate in holiday coverage.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position at a Level III Trauma Center, requiring at least 1 year of experience and a WA or compact RN license.

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg RN experience required
• BLS certification required
• Skills needed include IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line and PICC line management, and peripheral IV care
• Experience with GI care including bowel obstruction and colostomy/ileostomy management
• Respiratory care skills including chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac), high flow nasal cannula, and oxygen administration
• Genitourinary/renal skills including continuous bladder irrigation and pre/post hemodialysis management
• Medication administration experience with Heparin, Insulin, and PCA
• Isolation precautions and PPE knowledge required
• Wound care/wound vac experience preferred
• IV insulin protocol experience preferred
• Ortho trauma and peripheral nerve block catheter experience preferred
• Rapid Response/Code team experience preferred
• 2 professional references covering 1 year of experience within the last 3 years required

Responsibilities

• Medical Surgical unit in a short-term acute care, Level III Trauma Center
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Block schedule required
• Patient ratio of 6:1
• Floating between units required
• Weekend requirement of 1 every 2 weeks
• No on-call requirements
• Epic charting system used
• Provide direct patient care to a Med/Surg patient population with complex needs including GI, respiratory, and renal conditions
• Support rapid response and code team activations as needed
• Scrubs of any color permitted; surgical attire provided for Surgical Services/SPD
• No parking fees at this facility
• May be required to float between sister facilities within the state
• Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius unless applying under local rate terms
• Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must not live within 50 miles of the facility
• First-time travelers will be considered for this position
• Minimal RTO requests accepted; all time-off requests must be submitted upfront during the application process
• Commitment to work 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day) required
