American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night shift assignment in Peoria, IL. Active IL RN license and at least 1 year of experience required; BLS certification and Nursys verification also needed.

The unit features 29 beds with 4-5:1 day and 5-6:1 night nurse-to-patient ratios. EPIC EMR is used; travel RNs float to other med/surg units as needed, with no ICU/chemo patients.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required.
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required.
• Nursys license verification required.
• Must attempt IV starts and utilize unit resources as needed; phlebotomy team handles blood draws.
• Must provide negative drug screen for all panels.

Responsibilities

• Acute Care Med/Surg unit with 29 beds; typical census 22-26 and target 25.
• Nurse-to-patient ratios 4-5:1 days and 5-6:1 nights.
• Telemetry patients monitored remotely via house-wide telemetry department (Phillips).
• 12-hour night shifts 7p-7a with reports at 7a/7p.
• Every other weekend (Fri/Sat nights) and rotating holidays; no call or standby requirements.
• Travel RNs float first to other med/surg units; exclude ICU/chemo patients.
• Uses EPIC EMR.
• Care for wide range of medical diagnoses; some patients return after surgery/procedures.
• Receive 2 shifts of unit-specific orientation.
• Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction for standard eligibility.
• COVID vaccination not required.
• Requested time off must be submitted at time of consideration.

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring an active IL RN license and at least 1 year of experience.

Requirements

• Must attempt IV starts and utilize unit resources as needed; phlebotomy team handles blood draws
• Must provide negative drug screen for all panels

Responsibilities

• Acute Care Med/Surg unit with 29 beds, mix of private and semi-private rooms
• Typical census of 22-26 patients with a target census of 25
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 4-5:1 on days and 5-6:1 on nights
• Patient population includes GI bleeds, sepsis, cellulitis, CHF, COVID, comfort measures, osteomyelitis, falls, DVT, and pulmonary embolism cases
• RNs titrate Heparin drips only
• No ventilators on unit; patients may require up to 6L NC oxygen or stable BiPAP/CPAP
• Telemetry patients monitored remotely via house-wide telemetry department using Phillips equipment
• 24-hour Charge RN, Crisis RN, and administrative supervisor coverage available
• 24-hour PCT coverage with a 1:10 ratio
• Unit clerk coverage 24 hours a day
• 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a) with shift report at 7a and 7p
• Every other weekend required (Fri/Sat for nights)
• Rotating holiday requirement
• No call or standby requirements
• Travel RNs float first to other med/surg-like units, excluding ICU and chemo patients
• Uses EPIC EMR
• Care for a wide range of medical diagnoses, with some patients returning to the unit after surgery or procedures
• Receive 2 shifts of unit-specific orientation
• Any color scrubs permitted, no pediatric scrubs, staff provide their own
• Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction for standard eligibility
