Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift at an acute care hospital in Illinois. Requires an active IL RN license, at least 1 year of Med/Surg Tele experience, and BLS; ACLS preferred. Cerner charting and travel nursing experience are favored.

Unit is a 26-bed MS/Tele with 1:4–6 ratios, night hours 7:00 pm–7:00 am, and free parking. Housing and licensure reimbursements are included in benefits.

Qualifications

• Active IL RN license or ability to obtain prior to start.
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
• Minimum 1 year Med/Surg Tele experience.
• Cerner charting experience preferred.
• Experience with IV therapy and starting/maintaining IVs.
• Ability to manage lines (PICC, peripheral, central) and blood products.
• Telemetry monitoring and rapid response activation experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a Med/Surg Tele unit in an acute care setting.
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond to emergencies.
• Administer medications and use Cerner for charting.
• Care for adult and geriatric patients; support respiratory care.
• Maintain patient safety with appropriate scheduling and charting.

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position at an acute care hospital, requiring at least 1 year of Med/Surg Tele experience and an active IL RN license.

Requirements

• Active IL RN license or ability to obtain prior to start
• BLS certification required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg Tele experience required
• Cerner charting experience preferred
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience managing peripheral and central lines, PICC lines, and blood product administration
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and oxygen administration
• Experience with cardiac telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and rapid response/code team activation
• Experience with renal, neurological, and gastrointestinal patient care including CBI, CVA, seizure disorders, and feeding tube management
• Experience with wound care/wound vac, orthopedic trauma, total joint replacement, pacemakers, and surgical drains preferred
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Community hospital experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Acute care hospital setting on the MS/Tele unit
• 26-bed unit with an average daily census of 8
• Patient ratios of 1:4-6
• Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours from 19:00-7:00
• Every other weekend required
• Uses Cerner for charting
• Cares for both adult and geriatric patient populations
• Provide direct patient care including cardiac monitoring, medication administration, and emergency response support
• Block scheduling is not accommodated; flexibility with scheduling is required
• RTO must be discussed directly with the manager during the interview
• Scrubs may be any color, but tee shirts, sweatshirts, and logos from other organizations are not permitted
• Free parking available in any unrestricted space
• Located less than an hour from St. Louis and about 45 minutes from Scott Air Force Base
