Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night shift assignment in Texas. Active TX or compact RN license and at least 1 year of acute care Med/Surg experience are required.

Meditech EMR experience is preferred, with no 90+ day gaps in work history and SSN/date of birth needed for consideration. The role includes a 7P–7A night schedule with self-scheduling, rotating weekends, and floating to Medical and ER units.

Qualifications

• Active TX or compact RN license required.
• Minimum 1 year of recent acute care Med/Surg nursing experience required.
• Meditech EMR experience preferred.
• No gaps in work history equaling 90 days or more within the past 12 months.
• US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration.
• One professional reference required.

Responsibilities

• Med/Surg unit with 43 beds and ~70 staff.
• Day shift staffing includes 1 charge nurse, 1 unit secretary, 9–10 RNs, 4 CNAs.
• Night shift staffing includes 1 charge nurse, 9–10 RNs, 4 CNAs.
• Patient ratios of 1:5-6 days and 1:6 nights.
• Uses Meditech EMR.
• Unit cares for surgical patients excluding cardiac and open neuro surgery.
• 13-week assignment on 7P-7A night shift.
• Self-scheduling within reason to maintain balance.
• Rotating weekends required.
• Floating to Medical unit and ER for med/surg hold nurse duties.
• Provide direct patient care on a busy surgical/orthopedic med/surg unit.

• Patient ratios of 1:5-6 during days and 1:6 during nights
• Uses Meditech EMR
• Unit cares for surgical patients including any type of surgery excluding cardiac and open neuro surgery
• 13-week assignment on 7P-7A night shift
• Self-scheduling allowed within reason to maintain a balanced schedule
• Rotating weekends required
• Floating required to Medical unit and ER to provide med/surg hold nurse capabilities
• Provide direct patient care on a busy surgical/orthopedic med/surg unit
• Work as part of a collaborative team and be willing to ask questions when unsure of unit processes
• Dress code requires royal blue scrubs
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates will not be considered
