Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry travel assignment in Morgantown, WV. Candidates must hold a WV or Compact RN license and have 2+ years of RN experience, plus BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications. AHA-approved BLS/ACLS are required.

The assignment features 13 weeks, with 1:5–7 patient ratios, Cerner EMR, and a night shift (7:00 PM–7:30 AM). First-time travelers welcome, with housing and per diem support.

Qualifications

• Active WV or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted for consideration.
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required.
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
• BLS and ACLS must be through the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Minimum 2 Manager and/or Charge Nurse references from the past 2 years required.

Responsibilities

• Care for medical-surgical patients requiring telemetry monitoring.
• Bed medical surgical unit with telemetry capabilities."
• Night shift schedule: 4x12 or 3x12 hours, 19:00–07:30.
• Schedule includes weekdays and weekends, with 3 weekend shifts per 4-week period.
• Uses Cerner EMR.
• 13-week contract length with possible extension.
• Respond to rapid response and code team activations as needed.
• Provide care for patients with renal failure, CVA, and other complex medical conditions.

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring 2+ years of experience and a WV or Compact RN license.

Requirements

• Active WV or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted for consideration
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• BLS and ACLS must be through the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Minimum 2 Manager and/or Charge Nurse references from the past 2 years required
• Experience with respiratory care skills such as BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube management, and oxygen administration preferred
• Experience with IV therapy, central line care, and PICC line management preferred
• Cardiac monitoring skills including dysrhythmia interpretation and telemetry remote monitoring required
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE required
• Experience with pre/post cardiac catheterization and pre/post hemodialysis management preferred

• Candidates must have a permanent address more than 100 miles from the facility; those between 75-100 miles may be considered on a case-by-case basis at the same rate
• Facility expects minimal call-offs (2-3 per contract) due to attendance concerns
• Former permanent employees must wait 2 years from their last permanent employment date before returning as a traveler
• Current employees of the Vandalia Health System (including CAMC Health Systems, Mon Health Systems, Davis Medical Center, Broaddus Hospital, Webster Memorial Hospital, Grafton City Hospital, Highland-Clarksburg Hospital, and Minnie Hamilton Health System) are not eligible for travel contracts within the health system
• Travel experience is not required, making this position suitable for first-time travelers
• Orientation is held every other Monday
• Non-billable EMR training modules must be completed prior to start date, averaging 8 hours to complete
