Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position with drip titration and telemetry strip interpretation. The role requires an active WV or Compact RN license, BLS/ACLS, and at least 2 years of RN experience.

The selected traveler will work on a Level 2 trauma Cardiac/Tele stepdown unit with 29 beds, using EPIC EMR and Phillips telemetry monitors. 12-hour shifts and weekend/holiday coverage are required, with housing and travel reimbursements available.

Qualifications

• Active WV or Compact RN license required.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required.
• Must be able to titrate cardiac drips up to 50 mcg.
• Must be able to independently read and interpret telemetry strips.
• BSN not required for this position.

Responsibilities

• Acute care on a Level 2 trauma Cardiac/Tele stepdown unit with 29 beds.
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6.
• Care for cardiac and post-surgical patients on a telemetry unit.
• Operate EPIC EMR and monitor telemetry equipment.
• 12-hour shifts, 7a-7p or 7p-7a.
• Every-other-weekend and holiday coverage.
• Floating to Med/Surg/Tele units as needed.
• Provide direct patient care and manage cardiac/post-surgical conditions.

• Must be able to titrate cardiac drips including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Integrelin, Heparin, Ativan, Lasix, and Nitro up to 50 mcg
• Must be able to independently read and interpret telemetry strips
• BSN not required for this position

Responsibilities

• Acute care setting on a Level 2 trauma Cardiac/Tele stepdown unit with 29 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Common diagnoses include cardiac patients, post-cath, AMI, post-op lung surgery, respiratory failure, chest tubes, and pacemakers
• Uses EPIC EMR
• Phillips telemetry monitors used on the unit
• CPAP and BiPap equipment present, managed by Respiratory Therapy
• 12-hour shifts, 7a-7p or 7p-7a
• Every-other-weekend requirement, Saturday/Sunday for both day and night shifts
• Holiday coverage required as part of the perm staff rotation schedule
• Floating may be required to any Med/Surg/Tele unit
• CNA support available at approximately 1 CNA per 12 patients
• Charge Nurse available 24/7; does not take patient assignment on days but does on nights
• Provide direct patient care for cardiac and post-surgical patients on a stepdown telemetry unit
• Royal blue scrubs required; false nails not permitted
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible as a traveler
• Travelers who previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must complete a 2-year break before reapplying
• Travelers may not work within WVU Medicine facilities for longer than a cumulative year without taking a 2-year break
• EKG competency testing may be required for consideration
