Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical night shift in Johnson City, TN. Requires TN or compact RN license and Med/Surg experience. Night shift 3x12s, with flexible schedules and patient ratios of 1:7, plus Epic charting responsibilities.

Candidates should have BLS, NIHSS, and prefer ACLS; orientation includes online modules and Relias EKG testing. Housing and travel reimbursements are offered.

Qualifications

• Active TN or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required (AHA only accepted)
• ACLS certification preferred (AHA only accepted)
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of relevant Med/Surg experience preferred
• Prior charge nurse experience preferred
• Experience with 1:6 patient ratios preferred
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP preferred
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and PICC line management preferred
• Experience with cardiac monitoring and telemetry preferred
• Experience with wound care, isolation precautions, and PPE preferred
• Experience with orthopedic, renal, and GI populations preferred
• Must complete Relias EKG testing within 72 hours of signing
• Must complete drug screening within 12-14 days prior to start
• Facial hair trimmed to meet CDC fit testing guidelines

Responsibilities

• Medical Surgical unit in an acute care hospital setting
• 1:7 patient ratios on the unit
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
• Flexible scheduling options including 36/36, 36/48, and 48/48
• Floating with rotating weekends and holidays
• Must use Epic charting system
• Support nursing student clinical education alongside patient care duties
• Provide direct patient care in Medical Surgical unit while supporting nursing student education
• Must reside 100 miles or more from the facility's service area with no local candidates accepted
• General orientation begins on Sundays with online coursework
• Approximately 4-5 hours of non-billable training during orientation
• First-time travelers are not being considered
