American Traveler, LLC. is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Medical Surgical unit on a night shift. The role requires a VA or compact RN license and at least 2 years of RN experience. Expect a 32-bed unit with a 1:6 patient ratio and every-other-weekend shifts.

Responsibilities include direct patient care on a 32-bed unit, floating to cover staffing, and compliance with facility policies. Preference for travel nurses and Meditech experience.

Qualifications

• Active VA or compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central line and PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience with respiratory care including chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy management preferred
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and rapid response/code team protocols
• Experience with renal failure and pre/post hemodialysis management preferred
• Experience administering medications including heparin, insulin, and PCA

• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:00)
• Required to work every other weekend
• Floating required to cover staffing needs
• Preferred charting system experience with Meditech
• Uses Hercules beds
• Provide direct patient care in a medical/surgical unit emphasizing innovative nursing practices and new technology adoption
• Staff are assigned to self-scheduling groups that rotate weekly
• Holiday rotation required, including one summer and one winter holiday
• RTO policy: if one holiday falls within assignment expect to work it, if two expect to work one, if three expect to work two
• Must complete employee health drug screening on first day before beginning first shift the following day
• Zero-tolerance drug policy, including no acceptance of medical marijuana cards
• Fit testing required, including shaving for proper fit unless an approved medical exemption is provided
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
• Candidates who previously worked as permanent staff at the facility within the past 24 months will not be considered
