Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Med/Surg night shift position in an academic community hospital. The role requires active Virginia or Compact RN licensure, BLS, HWC, NIHSS, and at least 1 year of RN experience.

Responsibilities include patient care on a 24-bed unit, 1:6 ratio, and use of Meditech EHR. Candidates may be considered for travel status with a 60+ mile distance requirement.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (VA or Compact) required.
• BLS, HWC, and NIHSS certifications required.
• Minimum of 1 year RN experience.
• 2+ years Med/Surg experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 24-bed Med/Surg unit in a 250-bed academic community hospital.
• Serve patients of all ages on night shift 7:00 PM–7:00 AM.
• Maintain patient ratio of 1:6 and document in Meditech EHR.
• Unscheduled call, floating, and weekend coverage as needed.
• Provide direct patient care on the Med/Surg unit.

Requirements

• Current certifications: BLS, Healthcare Worker Certification (HWC, available on-site), and NIHSS
• Minimum of 1 year RN experience required
• 2+ years of Med/Surg experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Work in a 24-bed Medical-Surgical unit within an academic community hospital
• Serves patients of all ages
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Uses Meditech EHR
• Night shift schedule, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday
• Weekend coverage required every other weekend or as needed
• Call required as needed
• Floating required as needed
• Provide direct patient care on a Medical-Surgical unit in a 250-bed academic community hospital
• Facility is a designated Chest Pain Center and Certified Advanced Primary Stroke Center
• Consent to random on-site drug screening and completion of a Criminal Questionnaire/Consent Form required
• Scrubs of any color accepted; casual wear not permitted
• First-time travelers may be considered
• Candidates must reside 60 miles or greater from the facility to qualify for travel rate
• Candidates cannot have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the last 12 months
• Cannot be employed elsewhere full-time while on assignment
