Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN with charge experience for a night-shift travel assignment in the Lynchburg region. A compact or VA RN license is required in hand to be eligible. You will join a teaching hospital environment with a focus on critical care skills and patient safety.

Responsibilities include night shifts, potential floating, and adherence to facility policies. First-time travelers are welcome; housing and licensure reimbursements may be provided.

Qualifications

• Active compact or VA RN license in hand.
• BLS required; ACLS preferred.
• Minimum 2 years Med/Surg experience.
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, port access and blood products.
• Telemetry monitoring and emergency response experience.
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level II experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Night shift, 3x12 or 4x12, 19:00-17:00.
• Charge experience required.
• Floating may be required per facility policy.
• Oncology experience preferred but not required.
• Cerner/Oracle Health charting experience preferred, not required.
• Biweekly orientation with 8-10 hours of required modules.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN with charge experience and a compact or VA RN license required for a night shift travel assignment.

Requirements

• Active compact or VA RN license required in hand
• Candidates with pending certifications will be considered
• BLS required, ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience required
• BSN not required
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, port access/management, blood product administration, and peripheral line care
• Respiratory skills including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube care, nasal cannula, and non-invasive airway management
• Experience with feeding tube care, insulin administration, isolation precautions/PPE, and wound care/wound vac
• Cardiac monitoring, telemetry remote monitoring, and emergency response experience
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level II experience preferred

• Night shift, 3x12 or 4x12, 19:00-17:00
• Charge experience required
• Floating may be required in rotation with staff according to facility policy and clinical experience
• Oncology experience preferred but not required
• Cerner/Oracle Health charting experience preferred, not required
• Biweekly orientation held on Mondays, with 8-10 hours of required modules completed during orientation and annually
• Scrubs may be any color with professional appearance; child-friendly print tops and scrub/lab coats allowed
• Nicotine-free campus
• Expect to work some holidays and weekends in rotation with staff
• RTO must be approved prior to assignment start, preferably none in the first weeks of the assignment
• Must reside within a 60-mile radius of the facility
• Former permanent employees must be separated from the facility for at least one year before returning as a traveler
