Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN with charge RN experience for a fast-paced 29-bed unit serving orthopedic and medical-surgical patients. The role requires active NC or compact RN license, BLS, travel experience, and Epic EMR proficiency.

You will manage a 1:5–6 patient load, rotate to Charge RN shifts, and float to Cone Health campuses as needed. Night shifts, time-off options, and housing/travel support provided.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in NC or compact required.
• BLS certification required.
• Minimum 2 years RN experience.
• Previous travel nursing experience.
• Previous Charge RN experience.
• Epic EMR experience required.
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central/peripheral line management.
• Blood product administration and PICC line management.
• Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube, and tracheostomy management.
• GI care skills including colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tube management.
• Hemodialysis care experience.
• Neurological care experience with CVA and neuro procedures.
• Heparin and PCA medication administration.
• Dysrhythmia interpretation and telemetry monitoring.
• Wound care and PPE/isolation precautions experience.
• Must pass compliance EKG exam.

Responsibilities

• Care for a 29-bed Med/Surg unit including ortho and general medical-surgical patients.
• Telemetry monitoring available on the unit.
• On-site physical therapy gym for rehabilitation.
• RNs to work Charge RN shifts as needed.
• Unit staffed with RNs and LPNs; patient ratio 1:5–6.
• Night shift, 3x12-hour 7:00pm–7:30am; every other weekend.
• Floating to Cone Health campuses as needed.
• Provide direct patient care across ortho, ortho-trauma, total joint, and medical-surgical populations.
• Charge RNs carry a patient load on this unit.
• RTO and background checks per policy.

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN with prior charge experience and travel assignment experience for a fast-paced 29-bed unit caring for orthopedic and medical surgical patients.

Requirements

• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Previous Charge RN experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central/peripheral line management
• Experience with blood product administration and PICC line management
• Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube, and tracheostomy management
• GI care skills including colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tube management
• Experience with continuous bladder irrigation and renal failure/hemodialysis care
• Neurological care experience with CVA and pre/post neurosurgery patients
• Experience administering heparin and PCA medications
• Skilled in interpretation of dysrhythmias and telemetry monitoring
• Wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE experience
• Must pass a compliance EKG exam (two attempts allowed)
• Valid driver's license required for address verification

Responsibilities

• 29-bed Med/Surg unit caring for adult through geriatric patients
• High volume of total joint replacement, fracture repair, and kyphoplasty patients
• Moderate volume of other surgical procedures, inpatient, and 24-hour observation medical patients
• Telemetry monitoring available on the unit
• On-site physical therapy gym for patient rehabilitation
• Patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00pm-7:30am
• Every other weekend required (Saturday and Sunday)
• No call requirements
• Floating required as needed, including to any Cone Health campus
• RNs required to work Charge RN shifts as needed
• Unit staffed with a mixture of RNs and LPNs
• Schedules built every six weeks based on unit demand with set weekend schedules
• Provide direct patient care across orthopedic, ortho trauma, total joint, and general medical surgical populations
• Charge RNs on this unit also carry a patient load
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; no local candidates accepted within that radius
• RTO must be submitted with the initial application; no post-submission RTO accepted
• Third-party education verification required, with degrees from schools on the Florida Diploma Fraud Audit list not accepted
• No open background check cases permitted
• Orientation includes unit-based training modules averaging 2-4 hours
