Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night shift contract in Texas. Active RN license in TX or compact state and BLS are required; ACLS preferred. Minimum 1 year Med/Surg experience; transplant/dialysis experience preferred.

Travel position requires living outside 50 miles of the facility. Unit is 32 beds with ~50 staff; night shift includes 1 charge nurse, 5 RNs, 2 PCTs; patient ratios 1:6.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification preferred
• Medical/Surgical nursing experience required
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Med/Surg
• Experience with transplant, dialysis, or diabetic populations preferred
• US SSN and DOB required for consideration
• Professional reference required
• No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Responsibilities

• 32-bed Med/Surg unit with ~50 staff
• Day shift staffing includes 1 charge nurse, 6 RNs, 3 PCTs; night shift includes 1 charge nurse, 5 RNs, 2 PCTs
• Patient ratios are 1:5 days, 1:6 nights
• Uses Welch Allyn devices, iPhones for communication, and radio headsets
• Meditech EMR used
• Night shift 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
• Weekend rotation at least every other weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Unit performs all surgical procedures including kidney transplants
• Team player with initiative valued
• Navy scrub color required per dress code
• Unit recognized as a Unit of Distinction in 2021
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for travel position
