American Traveler is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery RN in California to provide care for mothers and newborns. The role emphasizes advanced fetal monitoring and the ability to manage high-risk obstetric cases in a community hospital setting.

You should be licensed in California with BLS/ACLS/NRP and hold an Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification. Travel rates apply for non-local candidates and local candidates are paid at the local rate.

Qualifications

• Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification required.

• Minimum 2 years of recent Labor and Delivery experience required.

Responsibilities

• Labor and Delivery unit care in a community hospital setting.
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM–7:00 AM.
• Care for laboring and delivered mothers and newborns.
• Utilize advanced fetal monitoring (internal and external).
• Provide comprehensive labor, delivery, and postpartum nursing care.
• Manage antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients including high-risk conditions.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring advanced fetal monitoring skills and comfort caring for both mother and newborn.

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP (Provider)
• Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification required
• AWHONN Advanced certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent Labor and Delivery experience required
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Experience with any EMR/charting system preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood/blood products
• Experience managing medications including antihypertensives, antiseizure drugs, magnesium sulfate, Pitocin, and Terbutaline
• Skilled in neonatal care including APGAR scoring and ID/security banding
• Experience assisting with vaginal deliveries and circulating/recovering C-sections
• Skilled in epidural anesthesia management and PCA pain management
• Experience with postpartum care including fundus, lochia, and perineum care
• Experience with antepartum care, obstetrical triage, and sterile vaginal exams

Responsibilities

• Labor and Delivery unit within a community hospital setting
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Responsible for care of both laboring/delivered mothers and newborns
• Utilizes advanced fetal monitoring (internal and external)
• Provide comprehensive labor, delivery, and postpartum nursing care
• Manage antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients including high-risk conditions such as pregnancy-induced hypertension
• Assist with vaginal deliveries and both circulate and recover C-section patients
• Monitor fetal heart rates using external and internal fetal monitoring equipment
• Follow isolation precautions and PPE protocols as required
• Accepts local candidates at the local rate
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius to qualify for the travel rate
• Former employees must have a 1-year separation before returning as a traveler
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with only 1 holiday request approved per contract
• Holiday coverage required for New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day
• First-time travelers not considered for this role
