Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for Labor and Delivery to join our travel nursing team. The position requires 2 years of recent LDRP/L&D experience and a WA or compact RN license, with BLS, FHM, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate certifications.

You will care for Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, OB Triage, and Normal Newborn patients on a 3x12 night shift, with 200-300 births monthly. Travel and housing allowances are provided, with per diem and licensure reimbursement.

Qualifications

• Active WA or compact RN license required in hand at submission
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in LDRP, L&D, PP, and Newborn care
• BLS, FHM, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate certifications required
• ACLS certification preferred
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood/blood product administration
• Skilled in maintaining central lines (CVC/PICC) and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience with anticoagulation therapy, antihypertensives, insulin drips, and magnesium sulfate therapy
• Experience assisting with high-risk deliveries, circulating for C-sections, and recovering C-section patients
• Experience performing sterile vaginal exams and fetal monitoring
• Experience with IUPC placement and calibration
• Epic EMR experience required
• 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required

Responsibilities

• Labor and Delivery unit caring for Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, OB Triage, Antepartum, and Normal Newborn patients
• Facility averages 200-300 births per month
• Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:3
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30
• Float required as needed within the facility
• Performs vaginal and cesarean deliveries, circulates in OR, starts adult IVs, and administers blood/blood products
• Manages drains, epidural pumps, PCA pumps, insulin, and magnesium sulfate therapy
• Uses Epic EMR
• Provides comprehensive care across Labor and Delivery, High Risk Antepartum, and LDRP settings
• Performs triage of obstetrical patients and antepartum care
• Utilizes isolation precautions/PPE and pain management techniques including PCA (IV)
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• Travelers may be required to float between sister facilities as needed
• Previous Providence permanent employees must have a minimum 3-month separation from the health system to qualify, and must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Returning travelers may be considered after a 3-month break in service
• Local candidates accepted at the standard bill rate
• Candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius or disclose distance for local rate eligibility
• First-time travelers are not considered for this position
