Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring AWHONN Intermediate certification and NRP for a high-volume, high-risk maternal fetal medicine unit.

The assignment features nights, 4x12hr shifts (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM), 36 or 48 hours per week, for 13 weeks, with comprehensive compensation including lodging and meals; pay is $2,691 per week, with higher totals noted in the posting.

Qualifications

• Active VA RN license; compact license accepted if in-hand by start date.
• Minimum 2 years Labor & Delivery experience required.
• BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate certifications required.
• ACLS preferred.
• Epic EMR charting experience required.
• Fetal monitoring competency required.
• Experience with magnesium sulfate therapy and postpartum hemorrhage care preferred.
• Experience assisting with circumcision and newborn assessment preferred.
• Two professional references required for consideration.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive labor and delivery care including triage of obstetrical patients.
• Perform newborn assessments and postpartum care following baby-friendly protocols.
• Assist with neonatal care in the delivery room and neonatal resuscitation as needed.
• Support surgical procedures including circulating and recovering C-sections and tubal ligation.
• Administer medications and maintain IV therapy.
• Follow isolation precautions and PPE protocols.
• Float within scope of practice as required by the facility.
• Complete up to 16 non-billable orientation hours recorded in Workday.
• Maximum 40 hours of requested time off per 13-week contract; disclose vacation time to arrange start date.

Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring AWHONN Intermediate certification and NRP for a high-volume, high-risk maternal fetal medicine unit.

Details

• Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a major medical center
• Unit features 8 private labor rooms, 4 private triage beds, and 2 OB operating rooms
• Facility averages approximately 2,000 deliveries annually
• Low-risk population includes certified nurse midwife patients; high-risk population includes maternal fetal medicine cases
• Night shift schedule with 4x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
• Schedule includes 36 or 48 hours per week
• Required to work every other holiday and every other weekend
• Expected to cross-train to Mother/Baby unit
• May be floated to NICU for feeder/grower patients
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required (pending license accepted if in hand by the Wednesday before start date)
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
• BSN preferred
• Required certifications: BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate
• ACLS certification preferred
• Epic EMR charting experience required
• Fetal monitoring competency required, including recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Experience with magnesium sulfate therapy and postpartum hemorrhage care preferred
• Experience assisting with circumcision and newborn assessment preferred
• Two professional references required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive labor and delivery care including triage of obstetrical patients
• Perform newborn assessments and postpartum care following baby-friendly protocols
• Assist with neonatal care in the delivery room and neonatal resuscitation as needed
• Support surgical procedures including circulating and recovering C-section patients and assisting with tubal ligation
• Administer medications and maintain IV therapy, including starting and maintaining IVs
• Follow isolation precautions and PPE protocols
• Float within scope of practice as required by the facility
• Complete up to 16 non-billable hours of specialty-specific orientation modules, recorded in Workday
• Maximum of 40 hours of requested time off (RTO) allowed per 13-week contract, which must be disclosed at the time of consideration
• Any vacation time planned between offer acceptance and start date must be disclosed to arrange an appropriate start date
• Former permanent staff or internal travelers must have a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility and are not eligible to return once this threshold is reached
