Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an ICU Travel RN for night shifts at a Level I trauma teaching hospital in the Toledo area. Requires 2+ years ICU experience and an active OH or compact RN license.

Position includes a 3x12 hour night schedule with no on-call requirements. Compensation includes comprehensive travel benefits and paid lodging/meals where applicable.

Qualifications

  • Active OH or compact RN license required.
  • Minimum 2 years ICU experience required.
  • Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS.
  • Experience with CVP monitoring, Swan-Ganz catheters, CRRT, cardiac pacing/IABP management.
  • Proficiency in vasopressor initiation and titration; insulin and sedation management.
  • Experience with RSI, central/arterial line placement, and arterial line management.

Responsibilities

  • Provide critical care nursing to adult ICU patients in a Level I trauma hospital.
  • Care for acutely ill adults with complex cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, and metabolic conditions.
  • Maintain patient ratios of 1:2 on all shifts.
  • Work night shifts: three 12-hour shifts (6:45 PM–7:15 AM).
  • Floating within scope to Adult ICUs, Adult Acute Care, and ED across Toledo facilities.
  • Epic charting required; no on-call duties.

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a night shift position at a Level I trauma and teaching hospital, requiring 2+ years of ICU experience and an active OH or compact RN license.

  • ICU setting within a Level I trauma and teaching hospital
  • Cares for acutely ill adult patients with complex cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, and metabolic conditions requiring intensive care
  • Patient ratio of 1:2 on all shifts
  • Night shift schedule, three 12-hour shifts (6:45 PM - 7:15 AM)
  • Required to work every other weekend
  • Floating required within scope to Adult ICUs, Adult Acute Care, and ED for boarding inpatients across Toledo, Flower, Bay Park, and Wildwood facilities
  • No on-call requirements
  • Epic charting system preferred
Requirements
  • Active OH or compact RN license required
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
  • Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
  • Skilled in CVP monitoring, targeted temperature management, PA/Swan‑Ganz catheters, CRRT, cardiac pacemaker, and IABP management
  • Experience with post‑cath radial band management and femoral arterial/venous sheath removal
  • Proficient in initiating and titrating vasopressors, cardiac medications, and sedation
  • Experience assisting with RSI, central line placement, and arterial line placement
  • Skilled in blood product administration and PICC line management
  • Experience caring for ventilated patients, interpreting ABGs, and performing ETT/NT suctioning
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required
  • Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
  • Provide critical care nursing to adult ICU patients with complex cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, and multi‑system conditions
  • Utilizes specialized equipment including Zoll/Arctic Sun, Intra‑Aortic Balloon Pump, NxStage CRRT, Zoll Defibrillator, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispenser
  • Works within a Level I trauma center and teaching hospital environment
  • Navy scrub color required
  • Free parking provided
  • First‑time travelers are welcome to apply, especially those with prior Level I or II trauma experience
  • Local candidates within a 50‑mile radius are not accepted
  • Requests for time off greater than 7 days require management approval
  • Previous staff must have been separated from permanent employment for at least 1 year before applying as a travel clinician
  • Block scheduling is not accommodated
  • Schedules may be adjusted with two weeks' notice to meet facility staffing needs
