Job summary

American Traveler, LLC is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a night shift float pool role in Maine. Requires 3 years ICU experience, Maine or Compact RN license, BLS/AHA certs, and 1 year of travel experience.

Duties include float across ICU/IMC units, with 1:2–1:3 nurse–patient ratios, night shifts 7:00 PM–7:30 AM, and up to 75% weekend work while using EPIC EMR. Local travelers near MaineHealth facilities are ineligible for renewals; RTO minimal; 13-week contract with travel flexibility

Qualifications

• Active RN license (Maine or Compact) required upon consideration.
• BLS and other AHA certifications required, with completion before start date if submitted as non-AHA equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of ICU experience required.
• 1 year of travel experience required.
• Acute care hospital experience required.
• Driver's License required for consideration.
• 2 professional references required.

Responsibilities

• Float pool position within the Nursing Float Pool department of a hospital environment.
• Floats to Surgical ICU, Medical ICU, Neuro ICU, and Cardiac ICU based on experience, as well as any IMC unit within the organization.
• Cares for basic ICU patients including sedated, intubated, and pressor-dependent patients, excluding high complexity cases such as CRRT.
• Patient ratios of 1:2 in ICU and 1:3 in IMC.
• Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
• 75% weekend work required.
• No call requirements.
• Uses EPIC EMR.
• Provide direct patient care across multiple ICU and IMC units, with flexibility to take multiple assignments within the same shift.
• Candidate must demonstrate outstanding patient care, strong team communication, and flexibility given the float pool nature of the role.
• Scrub color is non-specific, but open-toed shoes, jeans, and clothing with large logos or profanity are not permitted.
• Airpods, laptops, and cell phone usage are prohibited while on the unit.
• Floating up to 25 miles between facilities may be required as needed.
• Candidates residing within 90 miles of any MaineHealth facility are considered local, and local travelers are not eligible for renewals or extensions.
• RTO should be minimal, with 3-4 days considered reasonable for a 13-week contract at manager's discretion.
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
