Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is hiring an experienced RN for an ICU Float position in Sioux Falls. SD- or compact-licensed RNs with 1+ year medical-surgical or progressive care experience are preferred. BLS/ACLS required; BiPAP, CPAP, high flow, telemetry skills needed.

Unit flexibility up to 41 beds; rotating night shifts and every other weekend/holiday. Epic, Alaris, and Acudose used; travel-friendly benefits and housing support available.

Qualifications

• Active SD or compact State RN license required.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA) required.
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required.
• Medical-surgical patient care experience required.
• Skills include BiPAP, CPAP, heated high flow, oxygen titration, moderate sedation, telemetry.
• Specialty certification preferred.
• BSN not required for this position.

Responsibilities

• Provide care in acute settings across a combined 30-bed medical-surgical unit and 8-bed progressive care unit.
• Unit can flex up to 41 beds with COVID and non-COVID wings as census dictates.
• Care for pneumonia, COPD, CHF, COVID-19, pulmonary embolism and complex respiratory cases.
• Nurse-to-patient ratios range from 1:3 to 1:6 depending on shift and unit.
• Work 12-hour night shifts with rotating or block scheduling; every other weekend/holiday.
• Floating to Med-Surg units; travelers prioritized for reassignment.
• Use Epic for documentation, Alaris pumps for IV fluids, Acudose for meds.
• Provide CCU support including mechanical ventilation, chest tubes, tracheostomies, non-invasive ventilation, post-op care.
• Collaborate with case managers, social workers, therapists and pharmacists.
• Unit orientation includes competency validation and online modules over three days.
• Navy blue scrubs; badge in/out required; prior health system employment end date must be 6 months before submission.
• First-time travelers may be considered.

• Patient population includes pneumonia, COPD, CHF, COVID-19, pulmonary embolism, and complex respiratory cases
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3 in Pulmonary Acute for IMC RNs, 1:4-5 on day shifts, and 1:5-6 on night shifts
• 12-hour night shifts with straight, rotating, or blocked scheduling patterns
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Floating to Med-Surg units required, with travelers prioritized for reassignment
• Uses Epic for documentation, Alaris pumps for IV fluids, and Acudose for medication dispensing
• Provide critical care nursing support including mechanical ventilation, chest tubes, tracheostomies, non-invasive ventilation, and postoperative care
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including case managers, social workers, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and physical therapists
• Unit-specific orientation includes competency validation, online modules, and preceptor-guided shifts over the first three days
• Navy blue scrubs required
• All clinicians must badge in and out at the facility
• Candidates with prior employment at this health system must have an end date at least 6 months before submission
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
