Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week assignment in California. Candidates must hold an active CA RN license and Epic EMR proficiency to manage high-acuity patients in a hospital ICU.

Requirements include ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and prior travel nursing experience, with a focus on airway, hemodynamic and multisystem support. RTO rules and supervisor references apply.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license in-hand at time of application (EMS A not accepted).
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications in-hand.
• Minimum 1 year ICU charge nurse experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a hospital setting.
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM.
• Patient ratio of 1:2.
• Uses Epic EMR; experience noted in work history.
• Provide comprehensive critical care nursing to ICU patients including cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, neurological, and GI conditions.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week assignment requiring active CA RN license, prior travel experience, and Epic charting proficiency.

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required in-hand at time of application (EMSA not accepted)
• Current certifications required in-hand: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 1 year of ICU charge nurse experience required
• Minimum 1 year of acute care experience required
• Minimum 1 year of specialty experience within the past 2 years required for specialized units
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Two supervisor references required at time of application
• Experience with IV therapy, central/arterial/PICC line management, ventilator management, and cardiac drip titration
• Skilled in interpretation of ABGs, EKG/ECG, and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with CVA/stroke management and multisystem organ dysfunction care preferred

Responsibilities

• Work in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a hospital setting

• Administer emergency medications, continuous sedation, and manage high-acuity interventions
• Support patients requiring hemodialysis, massive transfusion protocols, and isolation precautions
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travel candidates
• Former permanent staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 1 year to return as a traveler
• RTO must be submitted with the application and confirmed via screenshot; no RTO permitted within the first two weeks of the assignment, with a maximum of 7 days preferred per 13-week contract
• Manager interview may or may not be conducted prior to assignment confirmation
