Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a Critical Care Float role at a Magnet-designated academic Level I Trauma center in Wisconsin. Requires WI or compact RN license and multi-unit ICU experience.

You will cover Neuro ICU, Cardiothoracic ICU, Burn ICU, and Trauma Surgical ICU; night shifts 3x12 and potential weekend rotations. Strong telemetry, arterial line, and ventilator skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Active WI RN license or compact license required.
• BLS and ACLS certification required (AHA).
• NIHSS and TNCC certifications preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within last 3 years; 5 years preferred.
• Academic Level I Trauma center experience required.
• Epic EMR experience with charting in past 12 months.
• IV therapy, central/arterial line management, blood product administration, ventilator management, ABG interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Float across multiple ICU units including Neuro ICU, Cardiothoracic ICU, Burn ICU and Trauma Surgical ICU.
• Support IMC, Progressive Care, and General Care as needed.
• Night shift 3x12 hours (19:00–07:30) with every other weekend; other schedules available.
• Holiday coverage and weekend scheduling possible.
• Floating across ICU and step-down units; use Epic charting system.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a Critical Care Float role at an academic Level I Trauma center, requiring WI or compact RN license and multi-unit ICU experience.

Requirements

• Active WI RN license or compact RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certification required (AHA only)
• NIHSS and TNCC certifications preferred
• Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in the specialty
• 5 years of experience preferred
• Epic EMR experience required, ideally within the past 12 months
• Experience in an academic Level I Trauma center required
• Skills required include IV therapy, central/arterial line management, blood product administration, ventilator management, and ABG interpretation
• Experience with vasoactive and cardiac drip titration, CRRT, and dysrhythmia management
• Must pass a telemetry exam prior to starting, including identification of lethal rhythms and heart block recognition
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Critical Care Float position covering multiple ICU units such as Neuro ICU, Cardiothoracic ICU, Burn ICU, and Trauma Surgical ICU
• Also supports IMC, Progressive Care, and General Care populations as needed
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (1900-0730) with every other weekend rotation
• 4x12 schedules and weekend blocked scheduling available for interested candidates
• Some holiday coverage required
• Floating required across ICU and step-down units
• Uses Epic charting system
• Provide critical care nursing support across multiple ICU specialties within a Magnet-designated academic medical center
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
• Telemetry exam requires 100% accuracy on lethal rhythm identification and 80% or higher overall passing score for adult and pediatric exams
• Up to two exam attempts allowed; a third attempt requires completion of a cardiac interpretation review course
• Assignment may be cancelled if exam is not passed within three attempts
• Parking permit required if parking onsite, though alternative transportation options are available
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply with sufficient ICU experience
